326 M Sport Alloys - Cracked

Ok so yet another of my rear alloys has cracked!

Just had tyres replaced 2 weeks ago and no sign of cracks then and no big crashes over potholes either. ....so why is this happening?

Replaced under warranty thankfully
 
Sorry to hear Stark... seems the 296 are more prone but the 326 aren't exempt either. Most people here haven't had their e89's long so won't have the issue for a while (perhaps never if they drive on very good roads). In big cities, roads are crap hence the failing wheels. I've even considered going 18" once these tyres are worn down... as it seems the issue is mainly present on 19" wheels.

Glad you got it sorted for free. I have a feeling if mine go again I'll have to pay now the car is getting on a bit...
 
Owners of the new cars with these wheels on are only likely to check them when tyres need changing, and at that point I am sure some will have cracks

My view is that people should check them before as tyres will wear if air is escaping when they crack
 
Got a lovely loaner....they ordered the wrong wheel, a 296, as that's what the chassis details show....so car in for another night. Got a 118 D Convertible, Edition, on a 62 plate with only 200 miles on it....
 
Its high time that BMW owned up to this problem!

There seems to be no continuity in the replacement under warranty either and that worries me.

Great that they are replacing it under warranty, but have you considered going aftermarket just to avoid the hassle ?

Its sad we have to consider the prospect of buying an aftermarket product. After all we are supposed to have spent money on an expensive well engineered piece of German machinery!
 
I would think about CSL's if I kept it after warranty expires, as they look gorgeous. But if I do keep it, then I will extend the warranty anyway, and the 326's do look really good.

I'm going to realise my Boxster dream after this, and by then, they will have come down by a few quid too :thumbsup:
 
Theres a set for sale on ebay WITH CRACKS for over £1300 with tyres though but who in their right mind would buy cracked rims especially for that type of money!

If you've seen the same advert as me, its the tyres that are slightly cracked, not the wheels. I considered these, but they've been refurbished and for that reason.. I'm out :D

I know that ad your talking about Maniac, this was a different one which I cant seem to find now but he has hairline cracks on the inner edge.

Dont know about anyone else, but even with a weld I still wouldnt trust it
 
Got the car back today....what a gorgeous bloody car!! And it feels tighter than the 3 week old 1 series cab I gave back......

Yes I had 326's on my last Z, I hit a few potholes and I thought the wheel was strong, but it would seem not, sorry for your hassle Nick :)
