As you may know I've just bought this E86, it has a side light out on the front, not a problem you might think??
I managed to get it out (difficult), it fits into what would be the main beam hole on a Halogen car. This little halogen sidelight bulb lights the mini "halo" (inner). The bulb is sealed to the unit, off I go to Dick Lovett, £31, no way. ouch!!
I managed to twist out the old bulb without damaging the unit. It turns out to be a normal bayonet side light bulb but halogen. If anyone else has this unit it is possible to file out the plastic to allow the pins of the bayonet slot and then fitment of a new bulb for £3.99. I've found this image from a previous post.

There is a post on here where they have put a 20w bulb in instead of the 10w. Makes the angel eyes look better.
slightly more expensive bulb though!

I just did one of mine, just bought replacement bulbs for about £6. you on't need to damage the holder to get the old ones out, just twist and pull like a bayonet then give it a wiggle to get the prongs past the inner lip of the bulb holder.
I think 20W bulbs might melt the holder so would stick 10w.

I just did this last week, Bought a new bulb from Ebay. Used a needle file to create a slot to slide the bayonet fitting out.

I've not tried it myself but the guy that did said it hadn't done any harm. I personally would like to try some leds!
