Looking for my first Z4 and very much like the look (&horsepower) of the turbocharged 3.0
For me though the two most important things are reliability and running costs. Need some reassurance
that they are reliable and also if there is anything in particular I need to check before purchasing? The one I am looking at is an 09 with 32000 on the clock with a 7 speed auto box.
Thanks in advance
Gary P

I have that car! 09 35i with 7 speed auto, though it’s actually a DCT not really an auto. Not had any problems at all so far (2 years) and is been reliable and comfortable, which is good as it’s my daily. Goes like stink too :driving:

Use the search facility on here, they can suffer from hpfp issues and injector problems as well as cracking plastic cam covers and wheels.
Most will be sorted now but not all :?

Ditto, but I’ve only had mine for about 6 months only really a weekend car but try to drive as much as possible :driving:

The N54 engine is notorious with many things that can fail, which can cost big bucks to fix. If reliability is a requirement then it's better to look for a non turbo car otherwise just keep a grand or two aside in case anything needs doing, or get a decent warranty.
