3 reasons why I am a t**t

Car is winging its way back to me as I type with...................wait for it.....................................£1800 of gearbox repairs which he will be forwarding onto the company who supplied him the rad.

He's also replaced some sort of 'electrical board' which the gearbox company said needed doing but wasn't as a result of any errors made in the last repair. He said it cost £200 and I can pay him if I want.......if not then I don't have too.

Fair play to this chap (provided the car is fixed!) he's been very reasonable about all this.

Good job. Wasn't sure how this was going to turn out for you but my suggestion would have been to send Hunter round to have a word.

And so ends the saga of the 'Mercedes of Doom'.

Departed this morning for the sum of £4300........a rather bollocktwisting loss against the £5700 to buy and £1500 to repair(ish).

Never have I hated a car so much (actually makes my relationship with the Z4 look like a love affair).

Also test drove the new Merc SLK this weekend which was equally as s**t so Merc can stroll on.

Audi TT oil burner already purchased mate........picking her up next week.

May be starting a new life as a contractor so 50mpg will be most welcome!

Plus I've never had 4wd before.......its mental!

You'll be ideally placed to comment on the diesel sportscar thread! (Queue a bunch of people to make it clear that an Audi TT is not a sportscar)

Had a spin in a D3 Bi Turbo today, courtesy of 2alpsade. Very very fast, agile and will red line readily plus mid 40s to the gallon. No more narrow torque band and power delivery. I am very very tempted to chop in the S-Max and get a Touring version...

Next advert on eBay:

"For all the double denim wearing George Michael look-a-likes.... an oil burning Audi TT ...blah blah" :poke:

Oi!

No I've bought this one on bubble so I've got to keep it regardless of if I like it or not!

Totally suited my driving style (lazy) though and the 4wd really give some confidence in the cornering.......best car from a cornering perspective I've driven and I must say for all my dislike of the Z4 that thing was on rails.

Surprising the amount of genuine heartfelt support you get off forums.......ultimately I hope this is just a lesson to people who are thinking about trying to buy a car with nothing but a pair of bollocks and no brain.

I flew too close to the sun too often with second hand cars.......60k cars still have 60k running costs even if they only cost 6k.

Onward and upwards though.
