Indeed, I love how subtly it locks up but you can feel it doing its thing.

3.0si is a great version of the Zed - I loved mine and it was relatively cheap to run.
My M is in a different league however - it's the combination of things that contribute to the overall feel of the drive. It's now our 'special sports car' and gets used far less than our 3.0si was used 12000 miles a year to 5000 miles a year.
Both versions are terrific but in different ways. As a daily the 3.0si wins easily. Me, I'm enjoying what the M has to offer.

Tried both before I bought mine. 3.0si is a great car and very useable as a daily.....but despite its power, still feels like a modern BMW, easy to drive with light steering and feels safe. The M delivers what it should for a true M, slightly raw, but makes you smile every time you drive it and something a little bit special, but not a daily imo! Both great, just depends on what you want from a car.

Exactly this. The 3.0si is a better daily, easy to go quickly but you really feel the lack of precision in the steering when you start pushing on, even though I don't mind the steering as much as others here, great car though. The M is just everything up to 11! And much more confidence inspiring steering accuracy for turn in and much less mid corner adjustment imo, which just let's you focus more on enjoying the moment. I haven't had my M long but it's an event every time I drive it. Both great cars and I'm so glad I accidentally stumbled into the world of zeds.

Steering & handling on the M is fantastic.

It's an easy decision.

I bought a 3.0si and I'm happy with it.
The M does look better (bumpers and quad exhaust) but the other zeds ain't bad looking either.

It's all horses for courses really, and I bet there are loads of 2.0 owners who are more than happy.
The important thing is just go out drive and enjoy it!

I was in the same boat. I sold my Z3M and toyed between the si and M. With the amount of miles I do and similar performance I went for a fully spec'ed Si. Plus with the cost of keeping my M engine maintained over the 2 years doing 30,000 it was a no brainer for me.

One isnt really better than the other. Its down to use case.

BMW made the models for owners to aspire to. The M is too special to be a daily IMO the SI is a perfect fun car for the weekend.

Lol, hate to point this out but a lot of Facelift 2.0lt (most) mine included, came with the SAME "better leather" and sports seats.
Now don't go getting the hump please

Always wandering, why to choose 3.0Si over an ///M?

Really? Half price road tax, similar performance, better economy, less stressed engine, cheaper purchase price-

Apart from "similar performance" (its close but its in no way the same in how its delivered), you could be describing a Nissan Micra.

You buy a M because its part of a unique club, a bit of modern day motoring heritage.
