3.0si Tune-up

Seems like a very genuine, very experienced modern BMW tuner & I shall report back soon!

He doesnt seem to be experienced with bmw. When I called them this morning to ask informations about a remap for Z4, they asked me if my Z4 is a diesel...

If you're definitely going for this, would you do this test please to give us all meaningful results. In 3rd gear, time the acceleration from 30mph until the revs hit 6,000 rpm as a 'before & after' comparison.

Be interested to see the results as normally asperated engines don't remap as well as TDi's - Chipped my last 170 TDi A3, made a huge difference in drivability & at higher speeds made it far more enthusiastic - not done the same to new toy just yet...

As Jason said it's more about power delivery. After you increase the power, start considering installation of a limited slip diff. And of course because one leads to another you'll probably come to an idea that you need better suspension for example bilstain b16, bigger front brake disc with stronger calipers, some lighter exhaust with racing cats...
Yeap this bloody tuning thing never ends! :lol:

SINCERE APOLOGIES ALL....! :( I must be the most hated forum member - nothing worse than starting this thread and not responding. Unfortunately I've been unwell - long story, and then playing catch up in Wills world, I'm off work for another 2 weeks so can now get back to normal.

Well - the whole tuning process unfortunately isnt quite over;
- The Dyno was delayed until yesterday and shows a 10% Torque gain but no gain (4hp) in HP. This seems to be due to a faulty MAF which will have to be replaced before running another dyno test with Jason's tune.
- Jason is moving to new premises in a few weeks with a dyno, so shall take it down there to be done
- He assures me he will get gains from the engine, so watch this space. This shoudl show with the new MAF but if not he will tune again.
- Aside from that, the torque has increased, mpg is better, and the pick up is much quicker
- Would I do it again..? Well at this stage with the MAF issue it;s hard to say but my suggestion is to call Jason, arrange a tune up on the dyno and I'm sure he will offer a guaranteed increase in HP or your money back
- I'll be sure to post when the MAF is replaced

In the meantime I booked the car in for a partial respray which was still done - collected last week & brought back to me a couple of days ago. Aero side skirts also fitted - shall start a new thread on that.

SORRY again chaps, slapped wrists and feel free to cut me up / middle finger salute if you see me on the road. Do post any questions and I'll be swift with answers

Cheers

Will
