3.0si remap - The Results (page 4) - Update

I'm gonna be having mine done at EcoTune in Glasgow in October. I'll be up that way for a wedding so may as well have it done whilst I'm there. Not really bothered how much it is. I'd sooner have a something I know is done to the absolute best standards possible than scratch around looking for the cheapest or the biggest discount.

I know how a lot of these companies work when it comes to mapping (being from the Industry). The majority of the cheaper maps over here - not going to name names for professional reasons - are written in Israel by a company who've never actually seen the cars they are writing the maps for. Just a few calculations, a power runs to prove gains and off it goes. No logs done, safety protocols over written all sorts.

This is exactly my concern. The only company I trust is Hyperchips, but I really want actual gains shown to me, not the guesstimate gains, which they also do. I could have lost 30hp and only gone back to standard. I'm going to have to go to a rolling road tuner.

We have a rolling road... But we won't do maps for engines we don't fully understand :(

RS Tuning charge a premium but do have an absolutely solid reputation in terms of mapping etc..... I'm sure they do before and after Dyno's to show the gains. Their maps are fine tuned to your engine, what might be good for one Zed may be totally different for the next Zed which is what they are very good at, all from what I've read I may add.

When we had our RS250 Megane, they offered up a group buy for forum members which was unbelievably popular, 300+hp, but then again, these are turbo'd cars, completely different to our NA cars.

Saying that, £200 that Marlon paid is definitely smile money by his comments so he's well happy which is a testament to that particular map.

Sorry for swearing here, but we had an Audi A5 Cab 2.0tdi, 177bhp straight after the RS250. Gorgeous car but it bored the tits off me. I looked into mapping for 40+bhp gains and more torque but the insurance side worried me.
Ended up buying a DTUK box for, I think, circa £250. Man, what a beast it turned the car into. The torque was unreal and the overall driving experience, on the max map I left it on, was a whole lot better. Turned a lump of a car into quite a very nippy car.
These kind od boxes are frowned upon by many and loved by as many but it suited me. Plus point was I took it off when we sold it and flogged it for £200.

I know that's a dirty diesel I'm talking about but what I'm getting at is that it's all about personal preference and budget etc etc etc.....

Can the public pay for a run to get readings at your place?

Of course :) That's what it's there for!
We charge £69.00 inc VAT for 3x Power runs with a Printed Graph and digital (JPEG) copy of the graph.

Dont suppose you`ve a jpeg of yours, and did you remap it?

Mine hasn't been mapped and hasn't been on the rolling road.
I'm all about how the car feels on the road. Seen way too many people get hung up over rolling road figures.

This. All day long!

I've no interest in dyno figures - as I said before I got mine mapped to tailor the way the car drove to my taste. I'm so chuffed with how the Base map has gone, but it's far from perfect so I'm looking forward to the next iteration :) dyno figures can vary wildly even between two runs done at different times of the day. The ONLY way you can reach anything more than a reasonable guesstimate of power is on an engine dyno. Hence, besides for assistance in mapping, I personally wouldn't bother with getting figures on a dyno at all...

My previous car (Jetta 2.0TFSI - APR Stage 2+) only ran 272bhp peak, but was quicker on the 1/4 mile and on track than a Revo Stage 2+ one which was running 283bhp.

The two graphs overlayed showed that mine had a huge delta increase of a 30lb/ft swell between 2750-5500rpm.

Same cars, same hardware, different software.
Peak numbers mean very little, and "a remap is a remap, it's all the same" is the biggest bullshit around.

thats thing, mine driving feels fine, no flat spots.

just curious of figures they produce.

Ive asked RS if he`d do a group buy and how much, that might make it worth it

"If there were 5+ then yes we could offer a £50 discount per car." so £295+vat

Loowing at having my 3.0Si remapped by Performance Remap Ltd. Anyone have experience with this company?

They are charging £195 for remap and £245 with before and after rolling road. Based in Gloucester. Might be able to wangle a discount if we can get a couple of us together?

Edit: Sorry to hijack/resurrect an old thread

No need to apologise - hopefully someone can answer your questions.

Cheers guys.

If anyone is interested in having this done by Performance Remap Ltd - please let me know and I can broach the subject of a potential discount with him.

If anyone has any experience with Performance Remap Ltd, please share

I personally wouldn't be interested in the rolling road figures - £195 seems reasonable, no?

Its what I paid for my quantum remap.

Well I'm booked in for next Monday evening to have it done. I'll be getting a before and after dyno print out.

I'll post the results in here and if people are interested I could arrange a discount if multiple people are interested in having it done.

FYI I am in no way affiliated with Performance Remap Ltd! Just trying tout get fellow Zed drivers a good deal. In fact the place is 1.5hours drive away from me!

Will follow up with results guys.

I'll be keen to see how you get on, I wouldn't mind a bit more power but the coffers are running low after doing a few other things recently like H&R ARBs, RTABs/limiters, tie rods, lollipops, tyres, alignment...

never heard of them no doubt they will just offer you a eco blend remap it wont do much theres only one guy who offers a full blooded remap and that's Jason at BW chiptune hes got years of rep form bmw forums and only person id trust after a few remaped my car promised things to be mislead. Anyone can remap the ecu on diesels which is how many of these tuners work. they increase fuel and air ratio 30 mins later your driving a car that now has 50bhp more easy quick remap thanks that's £200-£300. Remaping N/A bmw's petrols is different it aint as easy you need to understand them. Which is why someone like Jason being ex bmw technician buys cars in to work on and test before releasing remaps to the public for sale. These other tuners will promise you gains and take your money its really that simple

Thanks for the input.

Have you read their marketing literature? http://www.performanceremap.co.uk/why_choose_us.html
I've read this thread, and fancy a remap now

Your guys do sound as though they know what they're doing. A bit too far for me though.
I'll be chatting with my guys in Stevenage as they recently remaped my 335i, now stupidly fast.
Would like a bit more oomph from the z.
