3.0si Rear bumper and twin outlets

Hello all,

I'm lining up a new T304 stainless cat back exhaust from AA silencers in Stafford with twin outlets like the "M". The exhaust will be made from 50mm (2") tubing with a balancer box in the middle and then two rear silencers with twin staggered pipes either side. This will give good flow and torque (larger dia tubing would drop the torque figure) and a sensible noise level - thought to be similar to stock but with a bit more to it when the right foot is employed and have outlets on BOTH sides 8)

Now moving onto the rear bumper, will need to "butcher" the plastic for the new right hand exhaust exit. It will not match the original left hand side as this is formed and styled by the beautiful people at BMW. QUESTION, I'm sure this mod has been done by others so how does it look? There is an argument for doing both sides the same, meaning the left hand side is also cut a tad bigger than it is now and then matching the right hand side to this - both sides will then match.

Keen to avoid the butchered look and one side being noticeably different from the other. The focus will be the twin pipes either sides but what's the best plan for the bumper?

Any photos of mod would be appreciated....

previous owner did this conversion to mine, I think you can still get the same splitter but not in carbon...might be worth looking into.

edited for link

yep...i'm sure someone like mstyle or something were offering a plain black version, and there was another geezer on here from mainland Europe doing copy carbon parts too, a group buy was put forward for the same part.

i'd find it, but can't use the search function...

Yeah I remember that bloke doing the copies, not heard owt for a while though.

I'll see what I can find on the MStyle site

You could form the new cut to be the same. Pawnsacrifice did the mid and plastic welded bits on to make it identical.

The thread is on here.

Thanks all, must admit JaEdBa's Coupe looks very tasty. MStyle seemingly have dropped the option, would appreciate any links......

I have happened across an More rear bumper if anyone wants it, £150 it's sapphire black and has a few light scratches (to the paint and not gouges) otherwise it's in great shape.

When you cut it, it looks rubbish. You can see the innards of the bumper.

Not if you do it properly as per pawnsacrifice.

Not read that for a while - legend!

He helped me fit my intravee, cracking chap.

Love him to do do an exhaust mod for me, really want 4 pipes but not sure as a daily 60 mile commute.
