3.0si E85 or 23i E89

Yes the M Sport are definitely a better spec - the more I look at the E85 I am in conversations about the more I dont want to buy it given the paint work rectification, oil leaks, new tyres needed etc. I dont mind a project, but when all that project is is paying other people to do stuff it feels less of a project and more of a money pit

Thanks all good comments...I saw that one with the Aero kit and wheels. I think its a lot of money for something which just has the aero kit and the wrong wheels on it :D
It’s funny how people look at things in different ways. Return this car to standard would probably net you £1,500, which leaves you with a well specced/great condition/one previous owner/very low mileage 3.0i for c.£8k. I doubt you’d find the same any cheaper.

Spot on

And the one in the previous link is advertised as an Si but isn’t :headbang:

Its not an SI, so the M54 engine and spec. So I would be paying £8k for a non SI purely based on the miles, which to be honest I am not that fussed about. Would prefer it to be a few grand cheaper with 80k miles on it.

If I've read correctly your budget is around £9k?
That is a tricky figure TBH. You will get 'bottom of the barrel' E89s (unless you are extremely lucky), or a 'just above average' E85 3L by the look of it, and your comments.
If you want an E89, for another £2-3k you will get a much better choice and, you would hope, much better cars.

To put that budget into context, you will get an average 10 year old Ford Focus with around 60k miles. Cars are just expensive, no matter what flavour they are. :)

Yeah I dont mind paying my money, but refuse to part with it for some tatty E85 3.0 just for the sake of it.

Over 30 23i on auto trader under £9k….some very nice spec ones..fill your boots!

Does seem if you want ‘goodies’ then the price goes up..this looks nice ..

Another strange phenomenon lately has been the huge premium on low mileage. Seems mileage (or lack of) is King; condition and other things come a long way down in second.

Depends... If you buy a low mileage E85 you are still winning 👊

Its a nice example that one... And if you wanted to sell the alpina wheels and stick some 108's on as an example, you will be in credit for sure.... Worth considering 🤔

I agree mileage seems to have made prices go a bit bonkers. Im not paying 8k plus for a 3.0i just because low miles, when one that costs 2-3 grand less does exactly the same thing, I just want a car to go for a nice drive on weekends with.

Out of all the E89's, and after reading some of the feedback from owners on here, I'd be looking for a very well specced low-key 20i and getting it remapped :driving:

Nothing wrong with a 23i - I sold mine 6 weeks ago and would probably have been ok for you as it was well equipped, (Msport Highline), was pretty much unblemished for a 11 plate, I like e89, mild to drive, decent interior and pretty reasonable on fuel.

Would have another without issues, would need to be an auto this time.

This 23i looks like a nice one but as an E85 owner, I have zero idea if this is good value...

Mine had 82k, but came with I drive, extended lighting / extended storage pack / F&R PDC / Heated seats (Msport), reasonable value but not out standing IMHO, mine went for the same cash

Mine was nowhere near bottom of the barrel and was that money

This one looks decent value and great colour combo -https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202302174365090?advertising-location=at_cars&aggregatedTrim=M%20Sport%20Highline%20Edition&include-delivery-option=on&make=BMW&model=Z4&postcode=np45xf&price-from=6500&price-to=9000&sort=relevance&fromsra

Can you at least finish a car before you lust for the next one? :headbang:

A decent mileage and condition N20 engined car will be a £10-11k minimum though.
