3.0si DYNO TEST

Thanks all, feeling somewhat more reassured now!

Cleaned MAF (I think), cleaned air filter - drove to shops and no difference really, still feels the same as the day I picked it up. This all started with 12 yr old mechanic who said the car was sluggish because of the quad pipes - but even if it was the pipes I doubt you would feel a 7% drop in power. I cant feel any difference and I drive the car almost everyday.

I think you would easily feel a 7% increase or decrease in power if you know exactly how your particular car performs in certain conditions!!!

Here are the result of the Dynotest of my 3.0si Coupe:

227.3whp
288,3NM

Interesting they had the rear wheels off - mine was done on rollers..? Any mods..?

Some say that the Dynapack is more accurate. I dont know...

Bone stock when I did the run. Hope to get a new run now after I installed the AFE Stage II intake.

Yea loads more accurate.

Your car seems to be running very healthy - easily around the manufactuers claimed figures when using conservative wheel to brake conversion figures. Nice :driving:

My 2005 3.0i went the opposite way....231bhp standard,and having been in my ownership for most of its life(ie looked after,but driven as its meant to be),it had a mild remap ,which was meant to give 20hp extra,eqauting to 251hp...when checked,and on 3 runs did 257.1;258.3 and 258.6..so well pleased :D

(the only other change is a k&n filter i ftd 2yrs ago)

But ,i agree,u could go get it on 4 difrnt rolling roads/dynos,and get 4 totally difrnt top hp figures...too many variables

Interesting - who did the remap for you?

wills, don't worry about all these facts and figures, if the car feels good to drive and you like it, then just enjoy it :driving: :driving: :driving:

Try popping your graphs on here mate:
http://www.dyno-plot.co.uk/dyno/about.htm

This allows you to compare the lines (the most important part) to other cars, rather than just the peak figures. You upload a photo of your graph and it has a tool to digitise your results. Ive added a 3.0i 3.0si and //M on there for comparison all with 'at the hub' results :thumbsup:

doofus4000...yes ,i was more than happy with that,espcly as i said,powertune only said it would give me 20hp,which i expected/given its a normally-aspirated engn,so well happy with 27/28hp ;but no,i didnt get any stock/"before" figures,as a friend ,who works at a rolling-road/car tuning&servc centre put it on the rollers for me, at mates rates(after hours) :D

wills...the remap was done by Powertune,Motherwell...very pleasant guy/company to deal with,and all for a modest £275,with a 2yr warranty(on the software),and a free re-do of the map,if ever needed;ie if bmw dealer ever happens to wipe it/tho this is rare and unlikely,its nice to know :thumbsup:

Yes,doofus,it makes the car feel as tho the sport button is on (80%),and when the sport button is on(mostly),it is even better than with sport button before remap...it feels even more responsive,has ironed out the low down "lazy"/sluggish power delivery,around 2/2500 rpm,so well worth it,imo :) :driving:

Thanks all for feedback. I wont bore you all & deag this thread on anymore, but with a buddy just tested some 0-60 and ahem 0-100 runs on a 'disused runway...'

Very crude with a stopwatch & speedo, but getting some great figures;
* 0-almost 60 (end of 2nd gear) around 5.5-5.9
* 0-100 around 14.1

On this basis I'm not going to mess with tuning, it's a great car, quick enough for me & looks the dog's danglies.

Besides my other half has just asked why the car sounds louder when I pulled into the driveway - doh..!
