3.0si Diff Oil

Hi folks. I booked my e86 3.0si in for a gearbox and diff oil change today. The technician doing the work said that there is no plug to fill the diff only a drain plug?

Have any of you guys changed your diff oil and if so could you shed some light on where the fill plug is located?

Thanks,
Adam.

I changed mine a few weeks ago. Fill plug is located on the right hand side looking from the rear of the car. Drain plug is at the rear of the diff.

Just looked at the car and it's probably the other way round. Drain plug on the rhs and fill plug on the rear of the diff.

Thanks rob... I will give them a call now to let them know. Out of interest what oil did you use and have you done the gearbox oil?

I used Red Line 75W90 Differential oil and I changed the manual gearbox oil for Red Line D4 ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid. Made the gear change a lot smoother. Although I have now fitted a storm v1 weighted gearknob.

I just got Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75w-90 for my diff along with new plugs. I did a lot of research and most people use either Castrol or Redline... I'm going to change gearbox oil next week - I have the steptronic autobox and found a complete oil change kit from ZF - but the auto box takes 7 liters so it's much more expensive than with a manual gearbox :?

I've opted for redline and can report a noticeable difference with the gearbox. 75w90 is what I've got for the diff also, just need a find a way of getting it in there! :x

My indy is well experienced technician but it adiment there is no filler plug?!?

where is the drain plug on these

Not my diff, we could find the top up above but no drain on right hand side

Think i should do mine but its only just started to a metallic clunk sound so i think it needs greasing, currently on 93000 mines so i might look at fitting a LSD soon :D

1.2L according to Birds

I have just ordered Fuchs Titan Race SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic for my diff as its what they recommend.

My LSD is being fitted next week I cant wait!
