3.0si Coupe to Z4MC - worth it??

Looked after as well ! :poke: :fuelfire:

I ALWAYS select "Sport" on start up & personally return over 27 mpg. All my journey's are less than 7 miles (round trip) to buy a newspaper & packet of fags - daily. Yet I've not realised less than 27 mpg in 8 months of ownership. I might add that I regularly hit 120-130 overtaking cars on the way home - but still average 27mpg 8)

One of my neighbours has recently bough (last week) an Alfa Romeo Brera "S" in black. That is a very classy looking car! Makes my Z4 look a little dated both inside and out to be honest, and the S is a special LTD edition tuned by Prodrive (mainly handling stuff). Very sporty looking interior, black exterior + all the toys and with S only 18" black wheels. All this brand new for just over £28,000 (the same price as a 2007 used Z4M coupe!). Now the performance is down on my 3.0si to be fair, never mind the M, but makes you think!!

Actually, scratch the above. The Alfa looks good, but it's no drivers car!
... and that's not what a Brera looks like. The picture is of the concept, which was significantly watered down into the road car.

Brave man to drop £28k on an Alfa too; must be worth at least £18k by now. My friend has just bought a Spider and it's pretty nice, but the only things on it of which I'm jealous are the embroidered headrests.

Yes your right! Have found a pic of the car my neighbour has bought. Still nice in the metal:

Mind you this looks like a fun car for around the same price as a used Z4M. :P

I just sold my 2006 Z4MR as a straight swap for a 2008 123D M Sport. I'll be charged £120 Road Tax & get over 50 mpg, no matter how I drive it. Insurace is down to £258!!

Over 50mpg no matter how you drive it

Good luck!

Why do we even indulge this clown? It's so obvious by his comments that he never owned a Z4M and I'd be amazed if he now owns a 123d.

Because the thrill is in the catch !!

We push him, he bites, we push some more, he deletes his posts :cpilot:

What an absolutely uneducated pratt you appear to be. Stand back & look at your posts & see how others see you..

LOL Morning Nick, :tumbleweed:

Uneducated? How did you work that out ? You should have your own sticky in the lounge mate.

Come on gents :)

Personally I don't get how people can sell Z4MR's or Coupes and buy bloody 1 series Coupe diesels... but each to their own :)

It's not like they are THAT economical vs the depreciation train-wrecks they will be, considering the HUGE market over-supply they will suffer vs the rarer petrol turbo model :D

I'm one of those peeps

And you know what - I haven't regretted it one bit - and I even went for the lesser 120d too.

Loved every second of my Z4MC - but loving the 120d just as much. And I saved £7.5k off a 4 month old demo, so even if I lost the WHOLE of what I paid for mine, it would still not be much more than I lost on my M in 28 months.

Anyway, realise this thread isn't really about that, so stepping out!

Haha, didn't mean to cause offence senwar, I was thinking of you when I wrote that but I have this feeling you will swing back to the dark side ;)

Personally I just think cars cost money, and buying a car for it's mpg is like chasing the pennies and ignoring the pounds if you don't do mega mileages. I'd have gone for a 135Ci and swallowed the extra £60 a month it might cost me in fuel, in the knowledge that they are rare and would probably be worth more come resale anyway :? :)

Nah no offence mate, was just saying. To be honest, I bet not many people follow the same path I have!

I know of someone who went from a Z4MR to a 135i (hollpe on here) and he does speak highly of the car, well from what I've read. However, I went through a major sensible change of view and went for the 120d, even discounting the 123d as well.

Its a surprisingly good car, and has opened up a ream of new options for me given the fuel saving. I've only been to the petrol station twice since I got it in July!

There's just no denying though that the Z4MC is a modern classic - a gorgeous looking car. Well, it is when you put CSL's on it anyway! I was actually watching one on ebay last week that was for sale near me, one owner, and it had no bids at £19,995 for a 56 plate. I was a little tempted. But not yet...
