3.0SE Vs 3.0SI SPORT HIRE CAR!

My car is currently at the bodyshop after some complete F*"£$% idiot mother ^&^£$^^ £%^$^$%£"£$"%^ **&*%^^&$% $&%&%^^^&*****$%^$6 reversed into the door, not good after owning it for just over a week.

Anyhow, i have been lent a brand new 57 Plate 3.0si sport roadster with only 370 miles on as a replacement vehicle. (not all bad then i hear you say).......i just have to say what a difference between my 53 plate 3.0i roadster, not only in performance (could be that it feels faster as you always rev a hire car far more than your own pride & joy) but the noise is far meaner especially with the magic stig button pressed !! (sport button for you non top gear viewers out there)

I kmow this car has more bhp than the 3.0i roadster, but i am looking for a bit more noise to match this one, anybody had an aftermarket back box fitted and at what price ? (bear in mind i dont want it sound like a nova 1.4sr with a big bore 4 bolted on the back)

thanks.

oh man, that is not what you want at any time of ownership let alone a week in...

no idea about the other question...

Found this off another current topic,, might help with your noise :D

Very unlucky that,
Difference is after/around 2006 the Z got a new engine in it (nothin wrong with pre-06 engines btw). My bro-in-law just got a new exhaust fitted for around £500.00 for his 350Z. It was somewhere in Skem, the place designs it to what shape you want and what type of noise you want it to make. I'll find out the details for you. PM if you wanna know as I'll have to ask him :D

Thats a bummer easty, one week :x !!

As you can see from the topic i started i'm after some more noise aswell. Same as you just a more sporty rasp to liven up the experience.
There aren't many aftermarket parts for the z4 yet so you could go for a custom exhaust.
I know there are plenty of places that will make up a custom exhaust system but its always down to the individual welder how good the job is. I have gone this route before on previous cars and its been good and bad depending.
Maybe just keeping the original system and a diffrent backbox would be the cheapest way.
Induction/filter is the only other route, this seems to be slightly frowned upon unless its a gruppeM (expensive).

Someone on here has had there 3.0 remapped, cant remember who but it might be pushing out power figures nearer to the si. Always an option.

The car i have borrowed doesnt have run flats, i cannot stress enough how good the ride & sterring is over my car with run flats. I have heard people say it, but didnt believe the hype to be honest. If your thinking of going back to normal tyres, i certainly recommend doing so.

The performance difference is all in your head. You're not going to feel the extra 30 horses. There may be a sound difference. But that too is likely more due to the fact that you're pushing it at high RPMs. Bet when you get yours back and push the redline you'll hear baby roar too :D

With that said, I just ordered a supersprint race exhaust. They were on sale here in the US so I got the entire package, race exhaust and back pipes for $850. It was normally $1500. I'll have to take some before and after sound clips and post them.
