3.0L engine compared to 2.0L

I'd be worried about that too. Has it been shunted? Chasis bent?

You could buy it and get the ABS fixed along with everything else it needs then sell it for around £3 - £5k so might actually be worth looking at!

Probably looking at...

ABS Issue and any other faults.
Paintwork sorted at the back.
Headlight washer on the drivers side needs a cover.
Wheels need refurbed.

Then the usual things, Set of tyres, bushes, brakes, alignment, service.

I had 2 turbo-diesel 4 cylinder BMWs before I bought my 1st Coupe, and driving that with a 3 litre N52 engine was a true enlightenment! A 3 litre 6 that revs to 7,000 rpm - what's not to like? What had I been thinking? :headbang:

So much so that soon after I bought an E46 with the M54 engine as a daily, which was good but nothing like as special as the N52 in my Z4. And that also needed a full cooling system refresh due to a bowed radiator that started to leak.

In fact I like them so much I'm now on numbers 3 and 4 with N52 power! :worshipbmw:

As others have said if a 3.0Si is in budget that's what I'd go for, but if not I don't think a 3.0i would be a disappointment.

Happy hunting.

Rather than worry about which engine is better I'd be more concerned about how and why both lower rear suspension arms got so badly damaged they needed replacing at MOT a couple of years ago - rear end shunt maybe?

the number plate is from uk assistance which is a bodyshop so a dead giveaway that it's been in a shunt. I wouldn't go near that with a barge pole.

ABS dodgy, roof is green with algae, headlight washer caps missing. Definitely not a loved example

Cheap car is a false economy, get one that's been loved and cherished.

Maybe someone close by can take you out or let you try the 3.0 SE or the 3.0 SI.

I had the 2.5 and knew as soon as it went that the next Z4 would be the 3.0 SI.

Just do it as you will not regret it. *

You had the 2,5. 177hp?

I tried all three 2,5’s, and both 3 liters, and ended up buying the 2,5 218hp version, because its the most revy and sporty of the lot.

It was a 2003 2.5 SE. 192bhp. Sterling Grey, Black Leather, 107's.

Is that *aaaaactually* that cheap?

For similar age and mileage probably a little cheaper by about £500 - £1500.

Depends on what needs fixed other than the abs.
