Hi everyone

What are the running cost differences like going from a 2003 3.0i to an early M roadster?

We do quite a bit of touring in ours and we love the mid to late 30's mpg etc and realise an M would be more, but how much more?

Servicing, insurance etc? Tyres are the same aren't they?

I'm good with the spanners so brakes and general maintenance I can do, but parts costs??

Smoe example costs.

Road tax nearly £500
mpg around 24-28
Insurance could be cheaper as many have found
servicing costs higher.
Tyres are different size.
Front pads and disks £500 + fitting

As above ... Plus with the m you are much more likely to get your foot down more frequently ... Which means all of the consumables I can only imagine are going to be ... Consumed much quicker!

Depends how many miles you'll be doing. I changed earlier this year, and haven't had any complaints.

Inspection 1 and Inspection 2 services will be costly. Some main dealers charge £1,000 or more for inspection 2 service on an M.

I used to get 30mpg in the 3.0i. The last two tank fulls I've done were 22.3mpg and 24.5mpg.

Insurance is no more expensive for me. Road tax is nearly double, but hey ho.

If you've got the thought in your head, resistance is futile :D Go out and buy one 8)
