dannyboy, I thought you were joking around with your sig, unfortunately you aren't! If you think your auto is faster off the line in your auto against a manual 3.0 even against an average driver you're seriously deluded!

'Boy' - I've read the other thread, from the beginning, participated in it etc etc. Fact is, you're still peddling about a so called race where the other guy didn't react (or you jumped the start) and where he tried to drag from 40 in 3rd gear where your car would have kicked down to 2nd.
I assume you thought Schumcher's victory in the 6 car Indy race showed how great a driver he was!!! haha

• An automatic is quicker through the early gears 9 times out of 10 simply because it can launch more effectively and rev up to the engine’s optimum change rpm and gears are swapped quicker (yes quicker than you and me but perhaps not BMWs chief test driver). • There is no argument about the midrange where the 3.0si is quicker, nor is there an argument about which would be quicker round the track in the hands of a tame racing driver (genuine, not wannabee).
In light of the above and what has been reiterated time and time again, for the purposes of real world driving there is nothing in it.
Olden notions that manual cars are noticeable quicker outside a track is a load of bollocks and remember this is a BMW auto not Dagenham Dave’s Mondeo.
So there you have it smith and hopefully you can read, digest and comprehend what has been said, further I also appreciate the fact you state you have a 3.0si and shall leave that to a random person’s objective test for the ramifications of such.

Great isnt it Five, firstly a 2.1 and secondly a commendation. Suppose it depends on which University you went to and Manchester is up there in the top 16 law schools in the country.
