3.0 Wanted!

Hi all!

I'm a newbie to this so bear with me :D

Ok so I'm going to admit I might want quite a lot for the money I have but mileage could be compromised. I'm after a 3.0 with heated seats and rear parking sensors. 17" or 18" alloys, any mileage below 90k would be great and all for approx 5k!

I could go up to about £5250 dependant on where the car is located. I found a great one on eBay but it would be a 7 hour round trip for me! Already at £5250 but would cost extra £150 Justin petrol to get there and hope it was as described!

Anyone have anything like this, or similar please let me know! I'm after it in the next few weeks

Many thanks
Emma

Hi there!

Ah yes Adam's is the one I keep going back to on here (and piston heads I think it is) as it does have everything I want. However not sure if it should do or not but 95k miles is slightly putting me off?

And by the looks of the thread he has someone viewing tomorrow.

Not sure what the max mileage should be when thinking of buying one of these? I know BMWs engines go on forever but still 95k?

Ooo this is hard work :P

If serviced correctly then 95k is no issue , I recently sold a 56 Zcoupe with 93k & it ran like a swiss watch , i currently have a X3 on 105k with the 3.0 straight 6 engine & that also ticks over silent & pull,s like a train .
The mileage should reflect in the price & not in how the car perform,s ( unless mechanically neglected :? )
I would have no worries with a 3,0 Z4 at £5k especially in nice colour with all the extras you could want

Very true, and by the looks of the previous threads etc its been looked after. It does have everything I'm after.

Saw another one on eBay which also has everything I want but for £5250 and again they are far away so 7 hour round trip which of course for the petrol I have to add onto my budget!

Again my problem is this one - its in Manchester... 8 hour round trip :headbang:

Another on eBay (piston heads and autotrader letting me down!!) has everything for less miles but black and cream leather but unfortunately the seller has not yet got back to my question about offers and ending auction early. As I've said they will avoid fees and I would view, buy and take e car away this week! Dependant on the condition etc obviously.

I'm not sure if I'm trying to buy at a good time or not, there's a lot more 2.5s out there but I've got into my head I want the 3.0!

:)

Hi Emma

Wher are you located.

Take a look at a 2.5, same engine as the 3.0 just less CC. As most say buy on condition and if there are more around you will have more chance of finding one meeting your spec.

Yeah if you opt for the 2.5 then PawnSacrifices is a stunner that i can,t believe has not sold :o http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/z4-roadster/bmw-z4-2-5i-se-roadster-fsh-quad-exhaust/1659149#

This would be a very good car to buy

Ive seen it a number of times.

Yeah PS's car would be ideal. Maybe not a 3.0i, but the rest of the car will more than make up for it.....

I'm based in Farnborough, Hampshire so quite south compared to Manchester! Lol :(

I'm just thinking I want a nice decent car that I can look forward to driving everyday and the bhp difference between 2.5 and 3.0 is a lot! BUT I do need to compromise on something and I would rather compromise on engine size (which is still going to be a massive difference to what I have now) than all the spec I want I think.

Insurance on 3.0 is only £40 more expensive a year than 2.5 but there's hardly any and as like you said a lot more 2.5s out there!

Decisions decisions! :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving:

Mine is up for a bit more but perhaps we could come up with a deal? I used to make the trip down south, you're about 1 hour 30 from me.

Look at PS's car. Day to day I doubt you will notice the difference.

Not too far from you either

The 6 speed gearbox is unique to the 3.0 too, I think? Happy to be corrected if that's not true.

All facelifts and some pre 2.0 have a 6sp too.

I wouldnt let the wheels stop you... Easily changed... But sport seats xenons, nav etc are not easily (ie cheaply) changed later.

Another option is a facelift 2.5si... Performance wise very similar to a pre 3.0.... But with the facelift bits!

Hopefully mine might fit the bill :)
