Sadly it is time to let our second Z4 go to a new home. Dogs/kids mean something more practical is needed.

3.0 SI Roadster ‘06, manual. £6000

M-Sport Heated Seats/MFSW/Nav/6 CD Multichanger

We bought the car 10th March 2020 with 83080 miles on the clock and what with covid, the mileage now stands at 88739. So we have done a grand total of 5659 miles in 2.5 years.

Edit: As of 31/July/22 Mileage stands at 88856

During the time we have had it, we have had the rear coil springs and the starter motor replaced.

The previous owner had it for ~5 years (1st Sept 2015) and was also a forum member.

In the 5 years he had it:
Replaced the timing chain tensioner.
Vanos seals replaced
Both window motors
New front brake disks at 72,446 miles
New water pump at 66,453 miles
Roof motor moved to rear corner of boot

The roof motor move and the vanos were done for him by another forum member. I think (but don’t hold me to it), that he had the vanos and roof motor work done at https://www.rbmhampshire.co.uk/ / Ross / bowser134

It had an MOT 3 months late by the previous owner as he had an admin cock up confusing his car with his wife’s.

Service book shows:

1) Service 1; (oil service) at 15,372 miles
2) Service 2; (oil service) at 31,491 miles
3) Service 3; (Inspection 1) at 46,371 miles
4) Service 4; (Oil service and air cleaner element) at 54,956 miles

The following services were done by the previous owner

5) Service 5; (oil service, Inspection II and air cleaner element) at 64,255 miles
6) Service 6; (oil service and Inspection I) at 74,764 miles
7) Service 7; (oil service, Inspection II and air cleaner element) at 79,839 miles

EDIT: We have just had the following service done:

EDIT: 8) Service 8; (oil service) at 88,856 miles

EDIT: From a time point of view, service 8 was late, mileage wise, it was sub 10K, i just lost track of time and was relying on the OBC - cannot change that now sadly.

The work / MOTs we have had done, were all done at out local independent BMW garage that we have used for 15 years with our previous E85 and E91

I spent some time trying to find the right one. I felt it was a good honest car, well looked after for its age. When I was looking, I wanted a 3.0 SI that hadn’t been fiddled with, and this is it, except for the roof motor in the boot – but that is an upgrade. I was less bothered about what wheels it had, what colour of silver etc.

The body work is fair/good for its age/mileage. No dents. A couple of scratches and a few chips.

Seats are in good condition for age / mileage. 2 keys.

Last MOT Reports:

NSR/OSR Tyre Cracking - these have been replaced
Both front strut mounts warn - these have been replaced

Where it could be improved:

Fogs are starting to corrode – standard for a face lift
3rd brake light, LEDs are starting to fail – noted on MOT
Sat Nav location lock is not good – I think it is the aerial – there is a guide on here, I bought the replacement but never got round to replacing it – if I can find it, you can have it.

It doesn’t have cruise control – which would be nice - not challenging to retrofit. It doesn’t have parking sensors either.

Located St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27

(The slight dent in the passenger seat headrest is because my wife had just taken the child seat out, I expect the foam will recover)

Well I thought it was correctly priced in comparison to other vehicles.

Price reduced to £6500.

Not sure what you had it up for before but it looks fairly sensibly priced atm, I think there's a lot of overpriced cars out there at the moment that just aren't selling as people tighten their belts with the current economic situation, the market for weekend toys is definately much reduced and what they're listed for and what they will realistically sell for can be sinificantly different..glwts

Looks like a nice ish example, Any reason you haven’t rectified the issues for the sale and had it serviced (looks to be overdue now) It would probably help prospective buyers that’s for sure.

The garage invoice shows the top mounts were showing wear and they said it was just advisory and not necessary to replace currently.

Regarding servicing, the OBC is still showing around 7k till next service but I expect the time based limit will hit soon, if it does, whilst in our care then I'll get it done.

The time based wont come up on the display on a z4 unfortunately, you'll need to see when it was last serviced. But going by what you have said in the listing I expect it to be quite overdue now.

Thanks, I thought the OBC would show it. Just checked and indeed it should be done at 2 years.

I'll get it done.

If anyone is watching the thread and half interested, the top mounts will be done on Friday along with the oil service. Time wise, yes it's late, but I cannot change that now.

I'll probably get the tyres and third break light done then she should be pretty sorted.

Mrs G will probably say we can keep it as a third car then.....

Unfortunately not no, this is why there is so many zed’s which aren’t serviced correctly.

Glad to hear you have booked in to get it done.

It will be overdue brake fluid service and micro filter. I’d suggest you might as well get those done as well whilst there.

With the top mounts stick with OEM or Lemforder. MEYLE ones used to be rubbish and knock (on the rear) they may have sorted this issue out though.

Good luck with the sale. I am half interested myself so will keep an eye on the listing

Looks like an exceedingly fair price for a manual 3.0 SI roadster in a tasteful colour/wheel combo (i.e. not black on 108s :fuelfire:). Few easy things for the next owner to fiddle with and perfect. Someone’s going to get a real bargain here for summer.

Given that less than 1,000 3.0Si Roadsters found homes in the UK they don't come up for sale too often, so it's an opportunity for someone!

GLWTS.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Someone is going to get a good value, tidy car.

I have spent some money on it to sort out the larger issues, surely this brings it in range PVR :poke: ??

Oil service - done
rear tyres replaced
mcpherson strut mounts - done

So I have left the small jobs, if it hangs around too long, then I might do them myself, but they are pretty low cost / trivial.

- third break light is starting to loose LEDs
- SATNAV fix is not good - probably just the antenna ~5GBP on ebay
- headlights are a little cloudy, not listed on the last MOT (but on the prior one) would lift the face a little if this was done.

I think your price is pretty much spot on, pretty decent miles with lots of work done. As Mr Tidy says these ones don’t come up that often and in my opinion the 3.0si is the perfect E85. Stick to your guns or try a 19:99p classified ad on EBay. Certain members will ask and querie everything just to get you down on price. I had a pathetic low ball offer recently on my coupe after I’d provided all the info I had on it and many pictures only to be told it wasn’t for them.

I assume this is a dig at me Eddie.....

I bid you what I thought was a fair price based on the info your provided me. I needed the info as you listed very little in the actual listing and you are the other end of the country to me so I needed to find out as much as possible before a potentially wasted trip.

I am glad you sold it for me than I offered, it was a nice looking car and the bodywork looked very tidy on it. Had a few more things stacked up then the offer would have been higher! I am happy to pay the right money for the right car and definitely wasn't trying to get you down on the price / insult you so I am sorry if it felt that way.

I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cars and know what the in's and outs of these cars particularly well, if you ever meet me in real life you'll see that for yourself, it also shows in my M3 which is really really mint and needs nothing even though it's cost a fortune to get there!

Maybe I am asking for too much whist looking for a zed which is why I haven't been able to find one who knows.

Yes it was a little dig at you and I don’t think you’ll find what you are looking for until you realise that perhaps the perfect Z4 may not be out there unless you are willing to pay a premium. You have been looking for a while now and ask and query about every Z4 that comes up for sale which is your prerogative of course. Perhaps I don’t know as much as you about Z4s but I do know a decent one when I see it. The facelift model is 16 years old now and there will be things that need doing, you just need to find a decent one and spend a little to get it where you want it to be but I get the impression you want a perfect one from the start with no spend.

Apologies for the chat on the thread Greeno, nice one for sorting the bits out that needed doing, it will be nice for the next owner not to buy a car which needs stuff sorting fairly soon. I am sure it will sell pretty fast now :)

Eddie feel free to set up a New thread on the forum if you want to discuss it further, I feel you still aren’t overly happy about the whole thing based off that response so if you want to have a chat about it let me know.
