3.0 se Roadster

Hi all, after having to sold my beloved Coupe a while ago. I'm considering buying an 04 Roadster 3.0se. Its got 140k on the clock with extensive history, some main dealer some BMW specialist. Price is about £4k, any comments advice.

As long as the history stacks up, I can't see that you should have to many issues, I would say the price is about right for the mileage and the time of year (not that it's cold) got any photos

Seen some pics looks clean enough (don't they all on a pic). Going to see it on Tuesday, got a feeling I could bargin to £3.5k without too much of a problem. Real question is, will it bite me or should it prove reliable. Its the M54 engine I guess, my Coupe was the N54, can the older engine cope will milage? :!:

As far as I know there aren't any major issues with the M54 so it should handle those miles easily as long as it's been looked after.

Think he is saying for £5k you can get a car with 50k less.

M54 engine is very reliable though. This time of year prices are good though so do some comparisons and be prepared yo travel a little for a better car.

Yes, as I would value my 2003, 3.0ltr with 80k at around £5600 and it carries quite a few extras

The M54 engine is generally regarded to be pretty bullet proof. I've know a few folks with 200k + cars without any major hassles, does seem to have a better rep in that sense than the N52 engine, whether that is actually fair or not.
It actually swayed me to get a preface lift 05 plate (plus saving a bit of money) over the 06-08 3.0si I initially started looking at

Will only use the car as a weekend plaything in any case. Have to travel an hour to see it but the chap sounds honest enough and feels its with a look and a sensible offer. Thanks for the advice.

Bedford Road by Good Hope Hospital? I still have flashbacks to the g/f's water breaking on your road back in July at 2 in the morning. Oh the memories that followed!

No update yet chaps, never found time to view the Z4 last week. Plan to do so Tues/Weds. will post my findings etc.

Condition, history and how it drives are FAR more important at this end of the market than mileage, at 140k miles it's probably had some significant service parts replaced, but a car with 80-100k miles may be ripe for some expenditure so it's all down to careful inspection and the stack of receipts with the car. I totally agree about the 80-100k miles. Just this month I've had to change my disa valve, thermostat, alternator belt, pulley tensioner, lambda sensor plus a few other things so whom ever buys the car within the next two years wouldn't have all that to worry about. Btw my car's done only 85k.
