3.0 Roadster upto £6k

Hi all.

Long time forum resident and seriously thinking of getting another Z4. I don't have much budget to play with as we’re supposed to be selling our house, but thats taking longer that usual so I’m looking around.

This also means I obviously need to be more flexible with any car, so I’m pretty open to condition so long as its a car thats been serviced.

Below is a wish list so if you’re thinking of selling, please drop me a line.

- 3.0 (M54 or if facelift, N52 blacktop if poss)
- Convertible (working and pref relocated motor)
- Manual or Auto
- Don't mind higher mileage/owners, so long as the service/inspection history is there
- Nothing too modified
- Colour: all considered, but I would love a Black one! After that, Toledo Blue or Sterling Grey.

Budget: Up to £6k-ish for the right car
 
Just checking as you said you want an N52, but then say you prefer pre-facelift, which are M54??

Well the market seems to have gone flat and there are bargains to be had right now. Good luck with your search.
Do you have a budget in mind? Happy to keep my eyes peeled up this way.
Not sure if you are a hands-on type, but if a car has minor niggles and is not a million miles from me then I'd be happy to help if it means you can haggle a bit.

Ive seen a few around for my budget (£3-4k) - its just about finding the right one thats been looked after. Understand its never going to be perfect, and happy to work on a car, but just fancy some fun again :driving:
 
Preference for pre Si is surprising :? i appreciate you have enough car experience to know what you want but its murky waters buying any car fast approaching 20yrs old at £3k - £4k :cry: the wallet doesn't need to open far to feel it gettting lighter & you could soon be at £5k with minor bodyworks , servicing , wheel refurbs , tyres etc etc
With the M54 & the Si getting closer & closer plus having owned both there is only one contender ifi was looking , would have to be the N52 .

No necessarily, and 2.5 would be my baseline. Saw this one and it does look interesting - especially that interior (wood :heart: ) and with the wing rust sorted or replaced.

I think you are right mr wilks, this is a really nice car and I’m sure with not too much spend it would look tip top. Cryptowhale is selling this car for less than he paid me but has spent a small fortune replacing parts. I have been tempted to buy it back but I need to sell the coupe first.
 
I just prefer the looks of the pre-facelifted car. Understand it will be older and require more fettling, but after 3 x E36’s and 1 x E30 I don’t mind that. Plus I think I’m well enough versed in the ways of the Zed to know what I’m looking at and how to deal with most problems. An honest car is all I seek really - M54 or N52. Ideally as close to Flimper spec too :lol:
 
Upped my budget a bit based on the market for 3 litre cars. If you are thinking of selling, do let me know :thumbsup:

Seem to remember you from my first time around here.

We're just about to get rid of our 2nd z4, 3 SI, face lift, about 85k, manual, motor in boot, not been fiddled with. Generally good all round, few minor bits, 3rd brake light is starting to go, fogs are (as usual) corroded, head lights would benefit from re finish, all small DIY stuff.

Probably looking for more 7k though. It's in Cambridgeshire. Will put a full listing up this weekend.

I’m prepping my manual 3.0i for sale just now . 108k miles. Fsh up until around 96k when I got it and a folder full of receipts since .serviced once a year whether that was 3k miles or 600 miles . Ex show -heavily modified car I guess . Bc racing coilovers , e46 clubsport wheels , short ratio diff , full custom exhaust , halo headlights , pmc adjustable rear camber arms :

Iv removed the rest of the mods that were on it , air suspension, yellow wrap etc .

All new underneath from suspension arms , bushes , bearings , poly bushed diff , guibo, centre prop bearing , gear linkage bushes , water pump , thermostat , belts , rocker cover gasket , genuine intake pipe , ccv system changed , disa uprated . Diff oil changed . Fuel pump , starter motor etc etc . I could go on . Paintwork isn’t the tidiest around the edges . Not rusty . Mainly because it was wrapped and wrap doesn’t like being removed from non factory paint . Bootlid ideally needs replaced or fixed due to dents and it has 4 holes with grommets in where I had a big wing fitted . Opposite of how you would normally buy a car I guess . Mechanically great . Could use some bodywork . Seats aren’t the best from being sat in my shed for 3 years . It’s got cruise control .

Haven’t wrote out a proper ad yet . I’m in central Scotland . Will be looking for £4 1/4k ish probably . Sterling grey . 2003 , m54.

Thanks to those that have got in touch and posted on here so far. Bumping to see if there are any other cars out there in the woodwork looking to be sold. Ideally Black, Toledo or Sterling. Ideally with ellipsoids too, but not a deal breaker.

If you have a 3.0 for sale that meet my needs on page 1 of this thread, then please get in touch :thumbsup:

(Also looking at MX5s as half of me wants to scratch that itch too, so be quick!)
 
BUMP: Think I’m decided that I want a Black one. Or Toledo Blue.
Looked at a silver 3.0 this evening local to me that was cheap but too far gone.

I have a Toledo Blue 3.0i with just over 111k miles and full service history (13 stamps) - with last service at 107k.
Black leather interior with heated seats and mfsw - recently refurbished MV2's with nearly new Dunlop Sport Maxx all round.
It's a '55' plate so one of the last pre-facelift cars produced and the bodywork is in above average condition as is the interior.
