3.0 replacement exhaust tips

They can't be oval in anyway, an oval is a squashed circle, right? So the pipe on the 3.0 exhaust is a perfect circle, it's a perfectly round tube (not oval), but the end is cut at an angle (or slash cut) to create a longer look. Much like when you cut a baguette at an angle to get a larger surface area from it.
Why won't the x5 tips fit? Are they too skinny where they bolt to the "dirty exhaust" underneath?

The trouble is that the pipe the tip fits to is oval. And yes it can all be done but it all at a cost with extra machining time and multiple set up.
I would have to make an oval piece to fit to the pipe. Then make the round part sepratly. The round part would then have to be set up in another machine to put the angle on. Then i would have to tack weld the 2 bits together then fabricate 2 bits to fill the sections betwine the oval and round part. then seem weld it all together. Its all possible but that's about a days work.
What i did with mine was to cut the ovals off all together and the just have 2 round pipes but at staggered lengths. But then i was able to weld the new tips directly to the back box.
Note the drivers side was not in its correct position. It is now i just don't have pictures.

I thought you could have got away with doing both ends round, (obviously on the car end it'd have to be the size of the larger part of the oval, then having the grub screw going through the bottom to secure the circle to the oval in a solid manner?

To be honest it would be loads cheaper.
If its just that they are dirty take them off send the to me and i can polish them up. You will probably be very surprised how clean they will be when you get them back.

Its mega easy for me as i have a polishing mop at work. Its only a few minutes work. So if you don't get on well i am more than happy to do them for you. As i have said to others no charge just pay the postage. And if your happy make a donation to the forum.
