3.0 (M54) How much oil?

Out of interest, how much oil do you normally buy/use/have left over for a 3.0litre M54 i.e 2003-2006 oil change?

Few places say 6.5 litres, but some yanks report using 7 quarts (Nearly 8 litres!)

6.5 Litres I would say judging by the the two 4 litre edge containers i used .......just completed last week. Still just over a litre left in one

If you drain it thoroughly (hot engine etc) you could get little over 7,5 litres in it.
That's what I got into it on the last flush. (and then the dipstick is on full).

But I had it sit on a lift for an hour , hot engine and slightly tilted.
And I flushed the engine before with 1 liter diesel added to the old oil, so the old oil was extra thin.

I'd go to 6.5, take it for a run, then check after an hour or so.

Last time I changed, it was just about 7 quarts, with filter change of course.

Remember US Gallons are slightly bigger than UK (imperial) Gallon

7 Quarts (USA) = 6.624471 Litres
