3.0 Fuel Consumption (again)......!

yes, you are right. I don't use MPG anyway, I use KM/L, never did understand this miles and gallons rubbish :D

14 mpg :o

From my 3.0 se auto 2004 i was getting 26 mpg when doing motorway blasts dropping to 60 mph then accelerating hard to 120-130 mph

Steady 80-85 mph 33 mpg that included some 60 mph A road driving

Across France cruising 110-120 mph still getting around 26 mpg

Since getting my ticket have slowed down in this country so will have to check the readings but i am lucky she's a weekend toy.

I have just come from a 330 bhp Subaru Impreza STI I was getting 200 miles every tank on mixed road driving but always like miss Daisy! ££65 to fill on Shell V power. :o Hence the 2.2 I now own and not the 3.0l :driving:

One thing here - on mine the fuel computer used to overread by 3 or 4 mpg so unless you check what you are actually getting, it might be lower than you think, which might explain some of the vast differences we are seeing.

I'll second that, I rekon my trip computer is 2 or 3 mpg out. Most of them over estimate the mpg, the only one I've seen that under estimates is in my Toyota daily driver. That is regularly up to 4 mpg under what I am actually doing. For me it is the tank range that is important. If you can get 300 miles from a tank, you've done well, any more is a bonus, any less, then you're having a proper good time.

I read that his computer reading dropped... dropped MPG, higher consumption :D
Sorry to confuse! :P Yes, fuel consumption got worse. Only slightly. Strange as I think Ultimate is the higher octane?

+1 noticed that too... my figures are calculated tank to tank, trip computer always slightly more...

It gets worse!

Apparently, according to http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php the car is actually doing just under 23mpg! That is absolute trash and I'm not a happy bunny.

So, decided to try some redex injector cleaner. Seems there a slight whine coming from the brakes too, so they may be dragging- bloody things a few months out of warranty too. Is adjusting the brakes an eay job? :o)

Right I'm off to count pennies for my next trup to the pertol station..... :!:

That website gives the same result as my calculations, so either something is wrong or you have a heavy right foot :poke:

Using this calc following a fill up this morning, I managed 25.46 mpg for the last tank! Not too shabby for an ///M car. But, I do drive it economically in that the car rarely goes above 4k rpm and with an 8k rpm redline that means I don't use its power much at all. I guess, at 39 yrs of age, my 'driving flat-out everywhere' days might be over! :D

then why you have an ///M :? I'll take it off you hands...

:D An ///M sounds, handles and looks fantastic even when driven slowly but mainly because I paid £28k for a '57 reg (08 registered) 6 month old Roadster, fully loaded, with only 3k on it. I had been looking at a 3.0si but the price difference for similarly specc'ed models of the same age was so close I thought I'd just go for the //M car!

Just a reminder - everyone should pay attention to the location of the poster as well - difference in US and UK gallons can make the numbers seem very different.

For my 2007 M Roadster with under 10,000 kms on it, I am getting 11.8 l/100 km in daily driving. This is just over 19.9 miles per US gallon, and about 24 miles per UK gallon. I drive the car pretty hard every day, so I'm pleased with this.

Last summer I took the car on a drive down some secondary roads and with the cuise on at 100 km/hr I could get down to 9 l/100 km while cruising down the highway - that's 26 miles/US gallon, and 31 miles/UK gallon.

This all based on the computer BTW, so I realize it might not be that good in actual practice. However I'm really only concerned (if I can even say that really) with the comparison of how I'm driving the car day to day....

Cheers, Al
