3.0 auto stick vs sport button. What's the difference?

If I want to have a bit of fun I generally move the stick to the left and activate normal sport mode. When I first got the car I used to just move the stick. However having not done this much and occasionally just using one or the other I am unsure what the difference is between using one or both together?

The Sport button changes steering input sensitivity and throttle response sensitivity so the car responds quicker. The shifter does just what it's name says, it lets you select which gear you are in. If you in the mood then use both together to get maximum sport feel. I drive in Sport mode most of the time as I like the quicker steering response. I wish there was a way to make Sport Mode default. :driving:

The mode button 'normal/sport/sport+' changes the gear shift mapping on autos/DCT, throttle response, steering weight, and on my car, suspension parameters. Moving the auto stick left changes just the gear shift mapping, leaving the throttle response/steering etc all in whatever mode you set with the normal/sport/sport+ button. Putting the shifter left also lets you use the gearbox in a fully manual choice mode. On my DCT for example, moving the shifter left, puts the gear change into sport mode auto, the moment I choose a manual gear it then stays in manual gear shift mode until I tell it otherwise. You can of course use the paddles to shift manual when the shifter is not moved left, but the car will push you back into normal 'D' mode within a few seconds of normal driving.

I'm sure if you experiment you'll soon find out.

See my post on the 3.0 i have listed the actual 7 modes this can run in. the sports shift is a faster gear change and is only part of the sports and sports+ button.

If you put it in manual so through the sport shift setting ive noticed the engine responce is not as fast as in manual sports/+ mode in the latter 2 the rev counter nearly instantly moves up or down, in manual normal its a bit slower.

I perfer to punch it to the left when overtaking its holds the gear a bit better than kick down but instead of 2 gears down its one but it still does take the revs up to near redline before changing up lol.
