There is another alternative. Move house to somewhere further away but keep going to the same gym etc. Your mileage will go up, and both you and your car will prefer the longer journeys...

Now THAT is a useless post :D

Thanks, my post looks useful compared to this one.

I work 3 miles from home, in the 18 months I've worked there I've driven in once. Either cycle, run or walk if it's a nice day :)

Thanks for all the advice, decided im not going to use the zed for these trips.

I am looking at renewing the compact insurance, but at £510 for 3000 miles a year (compared to £680 for 5000 miles a year on the zed) it seems ridiculous for a 316!!

Alternatively I'll sell the compact and get some form of cheap to run city car ie Aygo / Pixo / Alto

Bluestreak, how direct do we have to be ??? Sell the feckin' compact and walk ! A single car in London is hard enough to justify, let alone two, especially as you're single, no kids etc. etc. Jeez, you carry on like this and you WILL end up looking like a tanned version of me, with a Z that hates you more each day

Are you saying thats a bad thing Bing

Overweight & balding ? I guess a tan smooths off the jagged edges a bit, but yes, bad - especially by the time you are 30 :D
