Hey guys, i'm a long time admirer of the Z4, the coupe in particular and with my Golf GTI lease coming to an end in the next two weeks i'm going to take the plunge.

I've been reading a lot on the forums and appreciate the care you take of your motors.
Ideally i'm looking to spend around £10k, and to keep the mileage at or under 70k.

I have found these online, but the price does seem a little steep?

I'm a sucker for the metallic blue.

Cheers,
Tucks

Tucks - welcome to the Forum, in the 1st instance

For your budget, I suspect you'll find a half decent Coupe, with circa the miles your ideally after.

However, this might be worth a closer look at:

Oh and it's Met' blue - one of your preferred options I see
Located in South Wales..

As regards, a gem of 35i M Sport:
This, is probably one of your best options, albeit you'll have to be very quick, as the OP is chasing a deal with BMW I believe:

Your budget, yes will have to be stretched to buy the above car, but these beauties pop up rarely, in this condition; ultra low miles - oh and he's close to you, also in Solihull :driving:

Best of luck with your searches and let us know, how you progress?

Hi Tucks, and welcome to the forum.

I'm not too familiar with E89 prices but that Coupe looks dear to me, then again it is being sold by a trader. I would have thought you ought to be able to find one with 70K miles for around your budget of £10K, although I wouldn't worry too much about slightly higher mileage ones as their engines are capable of much higher mileages.

If you are a sucker for metallic blue there were 2 versions of it offered on the Coupe, Montego Blue and Monaco Blue which is much darker.

Here's a photo of a Montego Blue Coupe - it's the one I sold in February!

Hi guys, nice to meet you.

Wow that 35i is very very nice, but i think stretching my budget a little too far, and that may eat into the Mrs wedding fund!

I do love the Montego blue, very nice!

Out of interest, how many miles would you class as 'high' for the Coupe? By that i mean until certain parts start failing and cause major expense?

This would have been ideal: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202008072215723?price-from=7500&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&radius=80&advertising-location=at_cars&price-to=12000&aggregatedTrim=si&make=BMW&sort=relevance&model=Z4&postcode=b902hr&page=1

What do you reckon to this one: https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/10709487

Does it have to be a 3.0L?

Well i'm looking for sub 6 seconds 0-60 without modifications, and i didn't think any of the lesser engines could produce that?

Just in case it opened up more options for you, the 23i E89 is 6.4 seconds though.

Questionable interior colour + Se seats , even with the 52k on clock the seller appears to have added VAT to the cars true worth :(

SE spec and beige interior. Very little going for that car.

Well its not all bad news  ti silver being the best colour for a E86

Well it's a terrible colour combination IMHO, and for an SE it's over-priced.

And with that sea of beige on the interior you'd struggle to find M-Sport seats to match if you wanted to fit them!

And beige interior the worst

What do you guys reckon to this 35i? It's from a specialist dealer, but i think £14K seems a little high, and is a bit out of my budget. What would you pay for it?

And i know bob4333's was an absolute steal, but £18k was way beyond my budget :(

Just be aware that car hasn’t got M sport seats Tuck, they’re pretty essential imho, much more support, more adjustable, and another lure come sell up time.

Thanks John, appreciate it. Do the standard or m sports come with adjustable lumbar support?

No that’s quite rare option tbh Tuck, not many have them. However, with the M sport seats you can adjust the side bolsters, you get better shoulder support, and adjustable knee/thigh length support, all lacking on non M sport seats.

The SE seats on the car you’re looking at and M sport seats Tuck.

How do u adjust the side bolsters?

I don't think you can - certainly not on any of my E86s!

I think it may be an E89 feature as my 2007 123d had electrically adjustable side bolsters.
