2nd set of springs broken :-(

what suspension do u have? standard or M sport?
reason i ask is that mine have no rubber boots on them atm (previous owner had it on hydraulics so probs forgot them in a rush putting back to standard when selling) so im fitting the rubber bump stops to rear at weekend, but cant help but think its not been good for the springs to been run metal on metal for all this time so tempted to buy a fresh set rather than wait for them to fail...

If they aren't broken then i wouldn't worry about it, just fit the rubber pads and replace the springs if/when they do go. You will however notice an increase in height with the new pads in.
I must confess I'm running Sports on the rear & standard on the front. As you can sort of see here:
With my original 17" wheels sports springs never struck me as low - and standard always looked like on stilts!
I too wouldn't worry about retro-fitting bump stops unless you're in the habit of driving in a way that bottoms out the suspension. (I imagine that would be down farm tracks at great speed or smoky and the bandit style jumps with a fat passenger on-board......)
