2C7E fault code after changing vanos solenoid.

What a pain.
Unfortunately I can't really offer any advice. I have no experience with that scanner. I have heard it is meant to be quite good though.
I'm sure someone with experience will chime in.
 
I think I remember reading that with this scanner you should do a software update when you receive it?
Did you do that first?

If I'm thinking of the wrong device I apologise.

Yeah I’ve read that also somewhere. I’ve checked and it’s on the latest firmware version.
 
So I got INPA and cleared adaptations.

No improvement

Did still get this error

So does this mean the lambda is goosed and needs changing?

That is unfortunate. It was worth a go!

I just don't see how the sensor after the cat would cause such poor running.
Also quite a coincidence for it to have failed at the exact time that you replaced a vanos solenoid.

I am not completely doubting that is has failed. I just think it sounds like something else is at play here.
 
So it turns out I’m a total pleb and should leave the spannering to those who know better. I gave up and took the car to RBM. It would seem that one of the solenoids wasn’t quite seated right. Lucky was a simple fix. It was also noticed that the connection between the Downpipe and pipe to back box was corroded and causing an air leak, the stud/nut that holds the flange was corroded and snapped. It’s right next to the post cat sensor so this will cause some rough running.

Also, on a side note, looks like Carly has added adaptations reset on a recent update.

Having just gone through similar pain, it gets to the point where petrol and a match seems the best fix. :roll:

I pick the car up tomorrow. Hoping to see an improvement as I’d guess the exhaust leak has been there for sometime. I’ve never noticed a blowing exhaust as it’s pretty loud anyways.

I seem to go through the same routine.

It breaks> I have a nervous breakdown > declare hatred to all things car based > threaten to sell > realise it’s a simple fix and love the car again :headbang:

I 'fixed' three things at once so it was hard to work out where the new issue was. Spent two days faffing, then the code reader turned up and within half an hour I'd pinpointed the fault and an hour later it was sorted.
Such a great feeling!
