Hi,

Got to drive the 28i this morning. Wow big diference from the 20 love the car, love the engine, so much better and in practical terms just as quick as the TTS, and so much more refined than slk. I think I've found my car.. I've spec'd the car with the dealer they are working on purchase options. Ordering next saturday all being well.

I noticed yesterday that BMW finance are doing some very chunky dealer funded deposits on PCPs - £8k on the car I configured.

Good time to order, some good deals and will be here just in time for the better weather :)

Yes it's doing wonders for residuals.. NOT!

Half the high dealer deposit is due to a complementary msport upgrade. This shows as dealer deposit on finance but you can get it off cash price....

Good choice Chris, but remember its the same hairdryer engine as the 2.0

Been looing a used cars to compare.

This is similar spec to to what I'm looking at

http://www.bmwauc.com/AUC/WBALL52000E751016/digi-pdf.pdf

Difference appears wheel this has 19s, i'm sticking with 18's, electric seats and pro speakers... Plus this is 2nd hand and 2.5k on it

They want £37k. Total amount payable on finance is £43.3 inc final payment of 12k, at just under 10 % apr and assuming 12,000 mile per year

Now my car list is coming in at £46k but the dealer deposit is £9k. Bringing cost down to £37k as well. But it doesn't end there the apr on the new is 5.9% (10k mile). Total cost to me including final payment (15k) is £41.2. so thats £2k cheaper for a brand new higher spec, apart from the wheels, car. There may be a few extras to add, service pack, delivery etc which I need to negoiate on but it isn't going to hit £2k.

Who said nearly new was cheaper

Chris

p.s. I know I could get a couple of k off the used but.....

If you are using finance nearly new not great as the apr is higher

To be honest I want to pay for it outright, but with the high dealer deposits it maybe cheaper to buy on finance then settle in 6 months.... guess I'lI know more when I see the options on sat, going to need to read the small print and make sure there are no penalties for early repayment......

From memory, I don't think there are penalties for early repayment they just warned me that you are in "negative equity" until about half way through the finance contract during which time you owe them more than the car is worth on the market. Worth checking all the small print.

We compared nearly new to new, and the new came out as a better deal for our circumstances.

Just a thought if you haven't already purchased your car is have you considered a pre registered car. I was going to buy new and the spec I wanted was coming in at £38K+ until I joined this forum and read about pre registered. Found the car I wanted 3 month old registered to the garage to up their sales figures but only had 8 miles on the clock. Paid £28K
