anyone got any real world MPG figures for the 28i ? looking for a new daily driver and the promise of 40+ mpg sounds compelling against a boring diesel 3 series

Don't know about the 28i but 3.0 I am getting 33 to 35 with normal speeds combined open road and town driving.

I've got a 28i. My normal urban cycle gives me around 35mpg, on a run I get about 42mpg.

I'm quite happy with these figures, I previously had a 23i and got about 32 and 36mpg respectively.

My 28i gives me about 31mpg over the last 22,000 miles. I started logging it via fuelly when I got this car and just checked what it has as the total average over my ownership.

My best on a longer run shows as 34.6 mpg

Typical manufacturer perfect performance figures that get anywhere near 40mpg.

Not in line with my 28i experience, see my post above :)

Depends on cycle and driving style I guess. I enjoy the power but I ain't no boy racer!

Hi,

My experience on the Z4 28i

Town 25MPG
Motorway - 60-80 45mpg
A & B roads 34MPG

It seems to enjoy an steady smooth drive

This seems about right.

I never do any pure 'town' driving to make a comparison, but the other numbers seem right IMO.

OK maybe my usage differs from DR_JOHN but my sig is now a link to my fuelly accounts so you can see it for yourself. That's over 22k miles BTW. :(

Possibly my commute destroys my economy as it's only 7 miles each way so the car is barely warm most of the time I get to work. I also don't do lots of motorway driving which won't help.

I'm certainly no granny driver but I aint exactly a boy racer either.

Maybe you should take an average of all the figures given to get a real world MPG.

I'm changing the car next week :D so maybe the new one will have better MPG. I have felt it a little thirsty for a 2 ltr when i've mad 3 straight six BMW before this in 2.5 and 3.0 varieties and they were very similar overall.
