I wanted to hear your opinions. I see a few Z4MR with more than decent specs at under 26.000 GBP and one at even 24.500 they all have around 25 to 26 thousand miles on them. Do cars of that mileage have anything i should look out for?

If someone can afford the fuel to do 26000 miles in such a short time they can probably afford the servicing!

40,000km is nothing - I would however insist on buying from a BMW Dealer - Over here they have a certified used car program that gives you added protection. Good Luck.

The ones i saw where BMW approved used so i'm guessing they're more kosher. I saw a couple on PIstonheads though. Anyway i'm just in the process of looking at the market still. I'm leaving the UK in 2-3 months probably for good so i want to be as well informed as i can because i plan on driving out of this country if you know what i mean. :)

On a Ferry right?

Well that's only till France :D Then i'll drive across Europe to Greece and then another ferry to Cyprus. That's should be one hell of a first road trip.

To be honest if the car has been looked after correctly then it should not be a prob and if your not going to be doing loads of miles it will level out in a few years.

As for BMW approved try searching here BMW UK they are all main dealers and covered by BMW used car package. http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/homepage/

Noticed you are in Canterbury it may seem a long way but i bought my car from BMW Park Lane very keenly priced they seem a lot cheaper than most dealers i looked at in Kent as they have a large turn over of stock. http://www.bmwparklane.com/

They have this one 25.995 with 12.918 on the clock nice colour http://www.bmwparklane.com/usedbmw/view_model.html?dolnDealerID=16357&currentCh=WBSBT92040LD39369

I only looked in BMW's approved used website and Pistonheads GAZA62, I did notice the one you linked to but the one that made me post this question was this. I know it's far from me but its only an hour and fifty minutes train ride from London. Anyway what do you think of that. It has folding auto dimming exterior mirrors, CD changer and red leather that the ParkLane doesnt but the ParkLane one has parking sensors. I am not looking to buy right now because i dont have the free time to do so, so my question was mainly to see if high mileage of around 30k would be something to avoid.

Personally i would look at the Park Lane car as it has a lot less miles and if its anything like the condition mine was you'll be very happy mine is like a new car a few very minor marks that you would have to look for but over all very very nice and the interior is as new.

Options can be added

But that red leather....

Just joking. Well if that or an equivalent car is available in say a month i shall definitely keep an eye out.

Hi

30K is nothing for a modern car, well maintained, just check the service history, although buying from BMW direct that is not an issue,

I would be more concerned with a car that sits around doing nothing but the odd jaunt,

My car has 25k now, and doesn't feel any worse than when i picked it up on 3k... in fact it feels better, and the engine pulls harder now it has a few miles underneath it's belt.

Thank you to everyone for your responses. Sorry if i am being annoying with my newbie questions but this will may be the most expensive car i will ever buy and i just want to be sure i will make the right choices.

A straight six with over 3 litre engine + 26,000 miles......................just broken in mate! :)

I can't wait until mine gets around 20,000 miles! The engine will be a lot more responsive! My MINI John Cooper S had 18,000 miles on it before it started responding well and that was a 1600 engine! :D !

Also ask yourself, will you really need an M version in Cyprus? Nothing wrong with a Z4 3.0l si. Only .7 seconds slower to 60! :P

Well it's not a matter of need. It's more of a matter of want!

And i'd think an M or any other similar sportscar would be ideal for Cyprus with all those twisty mountain roads and the sunny weather. Big Germans uber-saloons or Italian supercars now those would be just pointless there... But nimble little sports cars... (please please please dont burst my bubble here... )

Besides at the moment we can afford certain luxuries and if i dont get an impractical sports car (it will be a daily driver) now that i'm young and foolish when will I?

OK also let me put it this way. A new 2.0t Audi TT with some extras costs around 30.000 CYP (Cyprus Pounds, we have the euro now but i refuse to think in euro :P ) A 2 year Z4 M for 26.000 GBP in the UK when i take it to Cyprus and pay all the taxes etc will eventualy cost me around 33.000 CYP! So that's just around 2-3k more than a 2.0t TT! Isnt that much more car for the money?

Agree fully, enjoy it while you can! I had to wait till my kids were almost out of school and everything else caught up before any extravagance was allowed.
