255/40/18 winter tyre problems...

I've just swapped my wheels over to my winter rims, a few week ago I bought 255/40/18 tyres so slightly bigger than standard spec
Once I took it for a drive when turning on camber or quick ish, it fires the traction control on and feels like it's catching :S
I fit my spacers to take it away from the inner arch and it definitely can't catch now but it's still doing the same :s

Could the bigger diameter be confusing the computer system? Help and advise would be great :)

Hell winter tyres don't grip well in the dry do they either. Sheesh

Are they new tyres? They will need to scrub in.
Also its a bit warm still for them. Under 5 degrees and mine are perfect. With the current temp mine are a bit skittish too.

The overall diameter is 26" with a 40 section 255 tyre as opposed to 25" for the correct sized 35 aspect ratio. That extra half inch on the radius may be the issue ?

Yeah I'm thinking it might have been a bad decision to go slightly bigger. Didn't think it would make such a difference though with loads of arch gap being standard height
