I'll be there.... 2nd year in the Z4M....... still chasing down my friends in their Tuscan's and the like....... not that you can speed much anymore....... not like 2003

See you in Houx ?

Any veterans - do you really need ear defenders? I can't work out whether somebody is just trying to make me look a bit of a numpty.

If its anything like F1 races, then you'll need earplugs at the very least. Those things are friggin loud.

My 31st year at this event. Answer...NO. May need ear defenders for numpty mates....

No ear defenders, but ear plugs to help you sleep are a must! I'd recommend a portable FM radio tuned to radio le mans (91.2 iirc) as a must - I picked one up from Maplins before I went and it was a great plus for the week-end, You only get to see a fraction of what's happening, but you can listen to the rest.

Thanks for the reply. I won't be making the purchase!!

He is still adamant they are needed though. Having said that he is also adamant his Evo sounds better than the Zed..:)

I will be going, however wont be taking the Z will be taking my rents 31ft american mobile home.... we are "camping" in Maison Blanche, this is the second time i have been and you do need something for you ears really, as some of the cars are rediculously loud... normally the Corvettes!

Ear defenders? Ridiculously loud?? Can't be the same race I have been to for all these years (unless age and motorsport have taken their toll :D). Saw the 'Vettes at Sebring in March (a LOT closer to the action than Le Mans) and NO ear defenders are needed! Now, if you were at Le Mans in 1989 and heard the Charge Mazda 767B that's a different matter!

Well I am taking mine and I will be on MB also from Wednesday afternoon - it will be the Black Z4 Coupe with (hopefully) the M coloured stripe over the top :driving:

Pop over for a beer! (If you can't spot me by the Zed I'll be the one wearing daft ear defenders..... 8)

Ok agreed its also no where near as bad as F1 but its still pretty noisy! although not as much as it used to be as the bloody diesels a so stupidly quiet! i wouldnt bother taking massive ear defenders but some ear plugs would be a good idea IMHO of course! :P perhaps i am a bit sensitive.. also no i wasnt there is 1989 i would have only been 5......

I was there in 89 and the Mazdas were unbelievably fast and loud.

I'd take ear plugs and keep them in my pocket if they were not needed - if you want to sleep that is!

hey, back in 89, did you see the guy drive his Datsun 240Z around the track about 30 minutes before the race.

That was me. I got to know a security guard quite well and he thought he should check out the track in my passenger seat. What a great memory. Now would he do it again if I went in the Z4?

He collected phone cards and I spent all year collecting them for him. Better start collecting again.

Sceptre

PS - update - My roof motor went yesterday :-( Should be fixed tomorrow.
