23i vs 30i.. or 4 pot?

I like my 23i..... It's a 2nd car.. Easy on the pocket but big on the pleasure.. It's going to be a long term reliable engine version. Nobody's going to make V6 engines in a few years so grab up a good one now..
If I wanted more power and performance I'd buy the G29 M40i and then get straight to the best of power and handling..
But then my Z4 is a cheap, good looking 2nd car. I get decent performance and the pleasure of open top driving. If I wanted much better handling and more performance without the convertible hard top then I'd buy a Porsche Cayman.. And I still think about a Cayman...

Or a Boxa. You get nearly the same power and handling plus the top down enjoyment now in 4 or 6 cylinder engines with the base boxster putting out 300 hp.

I have a X5 with N57 aluminum block straight 6 turbo diesel with 250 hp and 400 ftpds torque....I love this motor in sport mode. Can I have this in my Zed please

I'm only seeing 4 in a 200 mile radius.. one has sold on here, 2 are a bit high mileage and the other is that awful champagne colour.. its pretty much the only colour I wouldn't touch with a shitty stick :D (apologies to anyone that has that and loves it ) The one in Bristol is a bit of a bargain at 7500 but the 121000 miles is a bit on the high side for me

There's stacks of 23i kicking about, you can literally take your choice of colour and spec.. Finding a nice 3.0 is much trickier although I have an iron in a fire

What bargains.. Buy 1 and another for spares... Once the Eco crazies start their 💩 fun cars will be finished.. Take a gamble,.. Buy a good example and have fun..
Always better if you have a 2nd or 3rd car and you can keep your Z4 garaged.. Frequent oil changes, maintenance and all goes well.. Turbo versions be more careful and they will be fine too.. I miss the low rev pick up of my non turbo charged 2,3 but I know she will be a tough long lasting friend..

Im debating wether to be real fussy and hold out for a deep sea blue with cream leather 3.0 but i could be waiting a very long time but thats what i would really like.. I've actually found a minter at a decent price with a 23i engine but Im now thinking i may want the extra ponies :?

I love that deep see blue - my previous was a 3.0 Dsb but had black Kansas leather.
I would suggest you hold out for what you really want - or near as you can get! Make a list of essentials and desirables

A couple of years ago someone brought a manual 30i in Deep Sea Blue with cream leather to a local meet and it looked fantastic!

As there seem to be loads of 23is for sale might it be worth trying to test drive one before you decide?

FWIW in 2018 I was looking for an E91 as a daily, and could find plenty of 325is but 330is were way out of budget - so I bought a 325i. :(

But I found the performance a bit underwhelming so I tried again last year and ended up replacing it with an E90 330i because E91 330is were still silly money!

Anyway it proved to be a fairly expensive exercise, so I suppose what I am really saying is try to find out what the compromise would be before you make it.
