224s

Did they ever do the 224s in anything smaller than a 18"?
I was Googling photos hoping to find a M roadster with 224s lowered on H&R springs, and came across this photo on images, I dunno if it's the shot or the angle or what, but those 224s look small and the tyres look like they have a larger profile than mine. I dunno, maybe my minds eye has a different image of how my car stands but those wheels look really small!

They do but dya not reckon the tyres appear fatter with a similar arch gap? Its probs just the way the shot is taken I suspect

I sometimes look at mine and think the tyres look fatter than they are different angles and light play a part in it, I know my tyres are the standard for the Z4M and are the same as the M3 size

According to this-no they didn't, they are only 18" http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ (page 10)

224's were only ever 18" and IMO can look to small with the higher profile tyres compared to non ///M's

I've just lined that pic up against my own cars side profile and they're definitely visibly smaller but it must be the camera or the tyres playing tricks. Never mind.
It's a US car anyway and they have the steering wheel on the wrong side, so who knows what else they done got wrong :fuelfire:  haha

I find the 224s totally underwhelming I have to say, I've never felt they really suited the car...
They look pretty good following a full refurbishment, but I agree there are much better looks to be had with an uprated set of 19's.
It's on my to-do list but given the non-urgent nature and colossal expense of 4 new tyres & rims, it's pretty low on the list.
I'd like to experiment with some of the newer gen M wheels and see if they suit.

Would be interesting to see that. And yes, new wheels plus 4 new decent tyres is a fair outlay! :o

You can pick up a decent set of reps for ~£600 but then obvs tyres on top is a whole different league of expense

Something like this could look phenomenal, or ridiculous.

I'll try and do a decent photoshop mock up if I get a free hour or so. I love the CSL look but it's now almost as common to see CSLs on a ///M as it is the 224's, I fancy going down the unique path.
