224's fitted...

224s never fail & of course its all personal choice how you want your car to look but i prefer the rear wheels to stand wider than the fronts & adding 15mm spacers to 224 fronts leaves a virtually "square " set up so looks wise not for me
I did fit 224s recently back on my M roady & added 20mm spacers to rear just for a playabout which accentuated the stagger even more
I liked it & it did give a different feel turning in on twisties

I'm thinking of doing the same now - no arch rub I assume?

Depending on whether 225 45 or 225 40 you may get away with it cruising down to Sainsbury's but id lay money with 15mm spacers there would be arch rub with the outer shoulder on liner should you ever go on spirited drives

Well I'll be taking the Zed route to work later.. 6 miles in the van, 16 in the Zed So I'll check it out..

I think you will only get a slight chaff when cracking on in twisty lanes so suspension on compression whilst the wheel slightly turned off centre :?

Ok, with 15mm on the front, and 225/45/18 rubber - They rub

NOT at the top of the wheel as we thought, but at about the 2 o'clock position, rubs on the edge of the liner where it clips to the bumper.

Other thing I have noticed with the tyre sizes fitted (225/45/18 & 255/40/18) is that my speedo, which used to read 81 at a GPS 79, whereas now, at an indicated 81, the GPS says 84mph...

Me thinks I'll have to change the tyres back to std sizes...

Had the same spacers on my 107's, but with 225/40/18 and they were fine. Does anyone know if the offsets on the front 107's are the same as the front 224's? [ref]mr wilks[/ref]

I think the offset is F42 and R30 with 224's dont forget the rear is 9 inch as apposed to 8.5 with the 107's. Then agin your hardly likely to forget after all that cleaning!
107's are F47 and R50
So if memory serves 224's will be poking out an extra 5mm over the 107's.

107s are et 47 fronts / et 50 rear
I'm not saying the 15mm spacers won't or don't work on 224s with non M Zs but doing so without spacing the rears effectively "squares" up the stance & i prefer a wider rear track for both looks & handling

Factory speedo setting is usually over against GPS by about 5% / 7% & every Z ive upsized the rubber the GPS reads almost exactly what the speedo reads ( to within 1mph ) certainly never 3mph over

Where you say they rub is exactly where they all rub , the actual flat contour of the arch liner is a OEM faux pas imo , it wouldn't have needed much concave where the light access flap is to have cured all these problem,s
