224m wheel colour options

Hi all,

Im getting the wheels refurbed this week and undecided regarding colour. Car colour is carbon black and I have narrowed down the colour choice to hyper black or hyper silver, I fear the hyper black (gloss black base with bright silver sprayed on top) might look bad on a dark colour car.

Anyone have any examples of 224 wheels finished in hyper black? hyper black is as per the image below and I think it works.
Opinions please :)

This is something I've been mulling over as well. I can't decide between CSL's or painting my 224's, which I think are an awesome looking wheel that suit the car really well.
My e39 M5 had what BMW called Shadow Chrome finish on its wheels and it was fantastic, it sounds similar to hyper black, I'd definitely go for that

And the same wheels on my first Zed. The colour is described as two tone black chrome

Thanks everyone, I have chosen to go with shadow chrome. The refurbisher could not match the hyper black and the shadow chrome sample they showed me looked good. I'll be stoked if the finish comes out as good as yours Lynchy. Whoever painted them nailed the shadow look.

Slightly more chrome-y than Lynchy’s. You will love them 8)

I've asked a few local companies about shadow chrome in the past, they're not keen on doing it. Who are you using?

The previous owner had the wheels done so I’m not sure on the exact colour but I think they look great.

Good choice w silver-ish!
Mine are still dark antracite which is too dark against interlagos blue. I’ll refurbish them OEM silver.

Just gorgeous Bing. Perfect colour and really highlights the detail on the 224s. So that's Black Chrome or Shadow chrome?

Thank you

They are black chrome - though they called it chrome over black. It’s tricky to get right, and because of that each wheel is very slightly different even though they were done side by side. You have to look really hard. I was pleasantly surprised by how the colour keys into the silver grey without taking the overall look of the car down. I just hope I never kerb them as a matching repair will be impossible

Briefly had gloss black to sit on over winter... looking back wouldn’t have them again - believe you really must have the fleck of a metallic to bring them to life
