220D Idrive constantly rebooting

Hi all,
Wife is on her way to Cardiff and the idrive in her 220D Convertible has packed up. Constantly rebooting. No satnav, no phone, no music. Says bluetooth connection is deactivated, but cannot do anything as the second she touches any control it reboots again. Spoken to the BMW helpline and they had her do a hard reset, but no joy.
Irony is, the car goes back next month as we've reached the no penalty point in the PCP.
Good news is it's under warranty!
Bit of a beggar for her though, from Norfolk to Cardiff and back in complete silence and no traffic warnings.

Just wondering if anyone on here has ever had an issue like this?

Hard reset?

I'd pull over turn it off get out of the car lock it. Wait a couple of mins then try again. Was the only thing that sorted the MAN artic unit at one firms I worked for!

Tried all that. Apparently you hold the volume button in for 30 seconds and it does a complete reboot.
But google tells me it's either software or a new communication computer, over a grand fitted. Thank goodness for warranty.

Ive just coughed up for the warranty on the 335 - Cars are getting increasingly high tech with all the electronic witchcraft these days.
