20i Oil Consumption

Looking for re aasurance re the oil consumption ( or rather lack of it) on my 20i . Its coming for 2 years old has done 11k miles and is due its first service in Aug. and according to the electronic oil level indicator its still on the max level

Can this be right ?

If it is then great no problem, but I'm concerned that without a physical dip stick, if there is a faulty sensor the first I will know is when the engine goes bang and BMW politely telling me I dont have a claim as I should have checked the oil

If the sensor was knackered and the engine was damaged BMW would check the sensor deem it faulty and advise. Plus due to no dip stick in petrol engines the system will tell you when it's reaching min and needs a top up of 1 litre. All these things register on the key and the ECU so they would know if and when any warming lights appeared, if any.

My 46k miles 23i is using 1/2 litre every 10k miles. I change the oil every 10k.

Much prefer a dipstick as you can check colour as well as level.

The electrical sensor I suppose can go faulty but I feel changing oil every 10k the consumption as stabilised.

Bit different to an aircraft I fly daily, its using 1 litre every 5 hours, equivalent to 700 miles!
