20i ENGINE REVS HUNTING ON START UP

Hi folks I recently noticed the 20i we have has a engine hunting issue when starting up from cold, it seems to cure itself after about a minute when a steady tick over is maintained, l guess back in the day it would be a faulty automatic choke, but would this be a faulty sensor in the cold air intake or dirty MAF sensor? Any help would be great.

As usual a bmw fault code reader is your friend..what year is the engine?..there is no MAF sensor it’s a MAP sensor

Thanks for your response, l did put my code reader on but it wasn't showing any fault codes unfortunately, but the issue seems to have sorted itself thankfully
