WOW, what a fantastic weekend. Many thanks to Craig and John for everything they put together for another fantastic national meet.
The weather gods and driving gods got together to give use hot clear skies and nearly empty roads. Especially enjoyed racing after Craig down Hartside Pass. The brakes were stinking at the bottom so knew had been pushing along. :D
Good to catch up with everyone and enjoyed the Friday meal and Saturday barbecue.
Looking forward to the 10th anniversary meet.

Wow indeed.....a great weekend, and great to see you,Lisa and the dogs too, again.
Was saying,we usually have our meet a week later, and the dogshow is on,yet we had it a week earlier than normal, and dog show still on. Funny they brought it forward too :D
Your dog's are just lovely big fluffy pets

Was a very good day on Saturday, the BBQ and the Friday meal all went well, and what a way to end the weekend, with the Sunday run being one that never disappoints.....but this year it felt even better,if that's possible.
Hopefully see you at another meet sometime, between now and the next National, mate

Thanks to Craig and John for organising another stunning weekend and providing such good weather too. Thoroughly enjoyed it and so did my copilot Jon too. :driving: Great to meet the regulars and the new faces too. For me it seems to get better each year. Next year is the 10th anniversary, can't wait.

Good to catch-up with you again,Dave.
Yeah,it was superb this year, just hope we can book more of the same for next year, lol :driving: :D
Hope you can make another Scottish meet sometime :driving:

I followed Earthdweller to Alston and Hartside. I could keep up along the Alston road but had not quite enough oomph to power out of the corners down from Hartside.

It was quick. I backed off to let the bike and E30 pass but after the blue Audi pulled over I couldn't keep up.

It was stripped out and had a roll cage in it .. it was quick, very quick on the straights ( but not quite quick enough) but was surprisingly slow through the bends where he kept dropping back .. for such an old car I was surprised it got to 60mph :)

Great videos .. great roads .., quick sensible and safe driving .. pushing on where appropriate

Nice to see the bikers waving us past .. courtesy amongst enthusiasts

The bangs and pops from that E30 when it was behind were quite something

Great day

I think the 2 Tony’s at the back would have happily chased him, but the rules were that we weren’t allowed to overtake each other.

I don’t know if he was just resting or not, but when we got to a village at the bottom of the hill, he was sat with the bonnet slightly open, with a small amount of smoke/steam coming out of it.

I think it was the pressure of being behind "Proper" BMW sportscars .. or the shame of not being able to keep up with the hairdressers that caused his car to overheat  :driving:

Had a great weekend folks.
Thanks to everyone for coming, and glad everyone seems to have enjoyed it

We had the perfect weather ,mainly traffic free roads and good company :D

Saturday was a nice change from the Busier Lakes itself, and I am just glad we didn't meet any minibuses or coaches on parts of the route,as it might have been "interesting",lol
Was a nice drive, and one me and John have already discussed doing again in the future.

While the whole weekend was superb,
The Sunday drive for me was epic, with the usual roads ,to Hawes,Alston etc etc all very good indeed and don't ever disappoint,as well as the Hartside pass, which we have never had so clear and free of traffic/walkers/cyclists.....one obvious "benefit" of the Hartside cafe no longer being there I guess.
Had a great drive down it,with Brian (the only one following me for a wee while)
Also, the last stretch of the day from Shap all the way back to the Hotel was awesome, and just glorious weather, epic roads and no traffic :D :driving:
Apologies for me not being more detailed with the route info for that last stretch....no one had taken a wrong turn all weekend (thanks Laine and Nicola for keeping me right once or twice, when I went to turn too early, haha),but unfortunately 3 cars went up the M6 instead.
I will have more detailed info next time folks.
I am also glad Laine didn't sell his car,as it meant he enjoyed the Sunday run with us as well
Sorry you are having to sell it though. As a few of us said,we expect to see you at the next one, regardless what you are driving, even if it's Nicola's Golf :)

Thanks again for coming everyone, and I will get working on next year's,10th Anniversary National meet soon :D

Big thanks to Craig and John from me and Nicola too, as usual we had a cracking weekend. The Saturday run made a nice change to the usual Lakes run which can get a little congested at times. Great BBQ but I must remember my midge repellent for next time.

I couldn’t believe my luck, both good and bad that meant that the car didn’t sell on the Saturday but we got to have a great final run out on the Sunday :driving: happy days. Car sale is rescheduled for this Friday so still gutted but it’s going to a good home.

Great weekend with great friends, can’t wait for the 10th anniversary next year. Yes we’ll be there, probably zedless but we’ll have fun anyway.

A big thank you to all who made my 60th Birthday so special. Couldn't of spent it with a better bunch of folks.
Thank you so much for the cards and presents everyone and singing Happy Birthday to me when I was presented with my Cake that Craig(Craig3.2) had so kindly brought me all the way from Scotland. Cheers again Craig.
Had a lovely bottle of Lambrusco from Brian(Grumpybri).......cheers mate.
And then I got presented with the beautiful remote control E89 that Laine(Dave1971) had not only bought me but had sprayed not only the body but interior the same as my car. Absolutely blown away by your kindness and generosity Laine. Thank you so much.
And to everyone present....Thank You all so much again.

A big Thank You to Craig(Craig3.2) and John(SammyZ) for giving us such a fantastic meet yet again. My 8th consecutive National and it still amazes me the work you two put in to give us such a special weekend. Thank you both.

Would just like to thank you all on behalf of my Wingman Jeremy for making him so welcome. He thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated your company. He had a fantastic time so Thank You all.

Will get a few photos and my Gopro footage up soon.

Heres to next years 10th Anniverary......I know it will be a good 'un.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing several runs with you and it always makes me smile how well you keep up with the guys that have 70 to 150 bhp in hand. Just goes to show how good these cars are in any engine spec and how a good driver can make a huge difference.

Yes,it was quick, though I think I heard a few people saying it did some dodgy overtaking moves,or was that another car??

Never saw it,as it was further back than me,but looked like it was pressing on in the video.
Nice videos,Dave
Surprised you couldn't keep up with it,as you usually have no problems on that front.....must have been the added weight in the car this year, lol.
Was a great run down Hardwire :driving: :D

Yeh he came up very quick on me .just appeared from nowhere. So thought hmmmm suicide jocky let him go.
And by fk he did :D

Karma, haha.
Was good to see you again mate, and the kids to the car are coming along nicely :D

I hope Bob/Essexzed got home okay, and was feeling better?
Likewise I hope Kevin/benneyboy found his way home okay? :driving:
Was good to meet you both

Well, my Z4 weekend is turning out to be an expensive one, and my courtesy to other drivers didn’t pay off :headbang:

On the Sunday I moved over off the road and onto a small grass verge to let another vehicle pass on a narrow section. Unfortunately, as I moved off the bottom of the car bottomed out as the front wheel went down a dip in the grass verge.

What looked like just another damaged front rubber spoiler, turned out to be a bit more serious (dangling cable near the cats, pointed out by the other Tony), as an EML came on as I was driving down the M5 to my M-specialist in Cornwall on Saturday morning (to get a pre-Ring inspection 2, brake fluid change, and Brembo calipers installed)

Unfortunately one of the post-cat O2 sensor wires is damaged and returns 0v on the code reader, and will need replacing, but the issue is that it’s an original and been on there for 160,000 miles, and as such it will not budge (with the BMW tool for the job). So it means stripping the exhaust apart to drop the cat section (which has the original & heavily rusted bolts & flanges, so will probably cause it’s own issues).

My spanner monkey now has my car stuck in one of his workshops, and will do his best to get the bits he needs by Thursday, so that I can pick up my car (for my Ring trip), before he goes on holiday on Friday.

..and the last piece of good news is that the glovebox broke (the little plastic & brass bit on the hinge) when we were taking it out to replace the cabin microfilter. Found the brass bit, but can’t find any plastic bits to epoxy together :x

Looks like I’m creating a CSL version, one piece of trim at a time :|
