2016 z4 condensation

Ok so earlier in the evening today I looked in the boot. The inner boot lid around the painted area is soaked in condensation and there is an inch of water in the boot under the battery.
Where on earth did this come from? I've spent an hour drying every and taken out everything that's wet including hydraulic foams.
Can this transfer to the cabin too?

Nah, easy fix. Loads of information on here to sort it out. Did mine a few weeks ago and not a drop since, and no condensation anymore. I refitted the boot seal using fresh sealant, re sealed the corner seals as they’d lifted and the sealant perished, and finally the light cluster seals which were badly fitted. I fitted new ones as I’d bought them. Just followed the advice on here
yes.. the vapour will get into the cabin too. As said, mostly its the rear light seals (usually this is obvious when you undo them) or top hoot seal. I took out the trim and dried it all out to see where mine was coming from and to ensure the fix worked before putting it back. Annoying and time consuming but not complex.Portisz4 said:
the water under that seal is usually the indication its coming in there. undo the torque bolts on the top of picture and you'll probably find the sealant under is perished. I took the whole thing off, and re-sealed it. that solved it for me. as well as filling up the battery well, it goes into the chassis which took me a while to get rid of too.. let me find the thread I posted it in.

certainly worth doing.. rules one thing out. Make sure you dry it all out first so new ingress is easy to find (noting my point about the chassis storing water and it popping out when cornering, I even took a video..

Did you check the clusters correctly according #3 in the following thread (drill hole no. 3, seal pulling to the inside)? It's important to remove all interior trims of the trunk, to get a free view down to the bottom. And then you have to ckeck the two vents on the left and on the right as 2nd step.Portisz4 said:

I have glued the long seal across the back . Cleaned everything. Had the left light out, couldn't really see much a miss.
But alarming, this morning when I got to work, I looked in the boot and the left hand storage well , still all exposed as not refitted plastic trims ,was full of water again.
I am sure it didn't rain last night. This is weird. And if it did, surely a little light rain hadn't got in.
Was filling something or a hole with the hose pipe yesterday and it's working its way in when driving?

If you read the posts right the way through you will see that the chassis members may be holding water from previous leaks and this will make its way back to the boot. suggest you dry this out as much as you can and leave towels in to collect any additional water that appears when you drive. once the bulk of the water is cleared, use paper towels to monitor progress. Took a couple of days to clear mine. Then you can check for fresh leaks..
