As title...
Please read the meet thread itself, but those who have their names down know it's been a pita this year so far....anyway...do we

1.KEEP IT AT CROOKLANDS HOTEL AND WATERS EDGE CAMPSITE OR
2.MOVE TO HOTELS/BN B's etc IN BOWNESS ON WINDERMERE?

IN FAVOUR OF CROOKLANDS AND W/EDGE,WE HAVE A GOOD,SAFE CARPARK FOR A MEET POINT/END POINT ETC. AND ALSO NICE FOOD,ETC.
ALSO,WE CAN STILL HAVE A BBQ AT THE WATERS EDGE ON SATURDAY NIGHT(WEATHER PERMITTING).
DOWNSIDE IS WE ARE LIMITED TO 5 ROOMS AT CROOKLANDS AND 6 spaces AT W/EDGE,though there is extra CAMPING at a site not too faraway(not Little acres,as they are now in "the process of closing down/winding upn the business :headbang: )
And **there are a few B n b's or Hotels within about 10mins of Crooklands, bycar, and more slightly further out.
FYI,Crooklands is @ £65-75 per room per night.
Also, those who I have put as Hotel (requested),WOULD have to book their own accommodation Nearby**

If We moved it to BOWNESS, WE WOULD ALL HAVE TO BOOK SEPERATE ACCOMODATION,AT VARYING PRICES,(£60-£120+ PER NIGHT) BUT COULD MEET UP FOR AN ORGANISED MEAL,DRINKS ETC ON BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS,in the TOWN centre.
THIS WOULD BRING A FRESHNESS TO THE MEET,BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO DITCH THE BBQ IN FAVOUR OF A MEAL,AND PARKING WOULD BE IN AND AROUND A TOWN CENTRE,possibly??

THE DOWNSIDE OF BOWNESS IS LACK OF CAMPSITES,THERE ARE A FEW ,BUT NOT WITHIN WALKING DISTNCE OF WHERE WE WOULD IDEALLY BE BOOKING B N B,S ETC.,AND AFTER PHONING SEVERAL/GETTING INFO,MOST HAVE DEARER PRICES THAN W/EDGE AS WELL AS A MINIMUM 3 NIGHTS BOOKING IN SUMMER SEASON!

PLEASE POST HERE WETHER U WANT Crooklands Or Bowness on Windermere??

Thanks for sticking with it,lol :D

Update..... POLL NOW CLOSED,ITS STAYING AT CROOKLANDS ETC.

Crooklands for me.

-----------------------------------------

I'm probably a bit biased as I've been given a room in the Crooklands (thanks) - but I vote for staying with what we know.

We usually have to wait for everyone (most) to arrive on the driving days anyway, so could only imagine what it would be like if we had to wait for 20 cars from 20 different hotels to try and meet up somewhere where there's only space for 10 cars.

However, despite my vote above, I'm happy to give up my single occupancy room to a more deserving couple if needs be, as I'm not averse to an early morning pre-hoon-hoon!

Whatever the decision is, we need to sort it sharpish, as the hotels will be filling up week by week.

Crooklands for me as well. Just works so well for Hotel albeit limited rooms this year, the BBQ, camping and a very large car park to meet at each morning prior to the runs.

I'm of the same mind - Crooklands - Crooklands works and we'll sort out accommodation if needed.

Thanks Craig.

Crooklands certainly sounds best option, but happy to go with majority?

Cool, are you okay with booking a B n b/Hotel somewhere nearby then RIchard,if need be,for the Saturday night at least?...
Friday nights OK for those who need it

Crooklands

mostly because it sounds a bit chaotic otherwise

The bbq last year was fantastic at the campsite, the carpark is huge at the hotel to meet before our journey and I'm err camping :fuelfire:

But will happily go with the flow

Yes,I will decide by end of this week,as can't let it drag on too long, and have pm'd everyone that is down so far.

At the moment it is only about 4 people/couples who need a Hotel or b n b out with Crooklands......those who are down as Hotel "(requested)" beside their names on the proper Meet thread, tho this will no doubt increase as numbers do.....but looking like we are sticking to Crooklands at the moment.

Will give it to Friday Marlon, and see what's what, then post as needed.

Part and parcel of arranging meets sometimes, unfortunately :)

We haven't been to a National before. We couldn't make it last year but will be coming this year just for the drives, hopefully both days. So I don't feel I can vote for fairly for the location. However, Crooklands does seem to be the popular choice so far and as it is close to the M6 and further away from the busier centre of the Lake District then I would be happy to meet there. Looking forward to it wherever we meet. Can't wait! :D

Crook lands for me also. Better the devil you know and all that.
One thing to think about tho' is the Crooklands car park might be fuller than we think. If the hotel is full, the car park might be as well unless they fearn people are being bused in.
