2016 E89where is wind deflector stored

Hi
I just bought my first Z4 it looks like a wind deflector can be slotted into the gap between the headposts and I have read that it is stored in the boot but I can't see where it would be stored so I can't find one .
I wondered if perhaps it is an extra that I have to buy so I went to a local BMW garage ( not where I bought the car ) and I was told it is an extra that you have to buy separately.
It just seems odd to me that BMW would go to all the bother of designing the headposts to have click in grooves and then not give you the bit that clicks in so I decided to ask the experts, the people that actually have this car already.

If you have one it just lives in a bag in the boot. I wonder if you have the clips if your car had one in the past but it hasn't come on with the car. Most people who talk about retrofitting them have to be remind to buy the fittings as well. So yes it seems odd to have fittings and no deflector.

By the way you need to introduce yourself in the newbie forum and post pics of your car or you'll get prodded Viv

The wind deflector is and option and the roll bar covers are different if that option was specified. As you have the clips/brackets fitted to the roll bar hoop covers the car would have had a wind deflector at some point. It's probably been sold separately on eBay as they fetch good money.

Viv is right about doing and intro and getting some much needed photos up :poke:

The car I just bought is brand new but there is no wind deflector in the car that I can find.
Its a 4 cylinder automatic Z4 sdrive M .

Is it folded in a bag on the shelf behind the seats?

Hi,thanks but all that was there was a first aid kit and a toolkit, there is a triangle clipped to the inside of the boot door but I can't find a wind deflector,it's a brand new car Z4 2.0 automatic sdrive M.
Thanks

It would be folded in half along its length. So a black bag, maybe 60cm x 10cm ish.
The rollover bars will have black brackets on the inner side between the seats if a wind defector is included.

if the brackets are there, someone at bmw owes you the deflector.

Hello, thanks for that info, there certainly are black brackets on the inside of the rollover bars that's what drew my attention it just seemed odd there was nothing in the car to fit there ,I guess you are right that somehow it's gone astray unless of course it is an extra that has to be purchased separately from the car.I will contact the saleroom i bought it from.thanks again.

I missed your point, sorry, you were inferring that the dealer that sold me the car has maybe sold the wind deflector on eBay,you are probably right but I'm off the idea of chasing it up,what's the point I wouldn't use it anyway.rhanks for the info.
