Not sure if link to Twitter will work - but much easier to post photos on there so I'll give it a go.

Car washed and ready for day two - Porker tomorrow for me so no doubt exiled to the back of the flotilla again!

Aw wish we were there. Got three trips from Cornwall to the North planned this summer, just coulnd't fit another in. :(

Great pics. I love that Colour  The Aston Martin Evora  8)

Thank you, fell in love with the colour as soon as it came up, hopefully it will look better today now it's been washed again

Will try to get more pics today - but Bethan's coming too :) which means I'll be driving all day :D

looks a brilliant choice Ruth, wish we could somehow teleport ourselves to join the lantern rouge fleet at the back - hope you all have fun today

Hey jaRED, could you tell me where those roads are: the second shot in your first post and the first pic in the second post? Pretty please?!
Cheers

If the was possible we would have been out there with you - we seriously regret missing that one

Stevo - I'll try to work them out and PM you

Meanwhile - my arms are aching from all that hooning, and my face is aching from the big grin that's been plastered on it all day.

The driving was epic :D :D

We lost you guys at the end - missed the turn off the A66 - but managed to find Ian and Tony so had our own little hoon. Good plan to stop and not let the Lotus hold you up over Buttertubs though - I'm still not that good a driver

More pics to follow

Massive thanks again to John and Craig - think I'll be smiling remembering that drive for a while

I think the Barnard Castle traffic lights did nothing to help the 2 convoys.

Never mind as Ian (SK69) and I had a blast to ourselves heading over to Buttertubs - and caught up with Ruth & Tony just as we came of the A66.

All the roads were a little bumpy, but that's part of the challenge - and I'm sure I got airborne/sideways a couple of times - but Ian will have to confirm that as I was concentrating on keeping it straight.

I have some video of the Sunday drive - but my battery(ies) expired before we got to Barnard Castle, so have nothing of the detour to Buttertubs/Hawes (where our party split 3 ways) nor my solo trip in the pissing down rain and flooded road back to an empty Crooklands.

I'm not a video editor by a long way, so it may take me many months to do anything clever with the video (that includes cropping/uploading).

Thanks have to go out to Craig & John again for sorting the event and the routes

Whilst my Alston photos are loading up, here's the group shot fro, last time the forum hit the beach in 2011 - how many do you recognise?

Today was one of the best forum runs in terms of getting some nice open roads, and a group with a similar view towards pace. Thanks for that route John Craig (Paul and Steph too). Shame we got separated at the A66 but we guessed right and maybe you all went left. Anyway we had a great time doing Tan Hill and Buttertubs as a foursome and left Hawes after a brief chat to Paul so worked out ok in the end. Hope you all had a great time too and got home safely - especially those who generated some car troubles - let us all know you got back ok.

Until next time...

you and I both got sideways, and airborne a good couple of times. I will have to hunt through the gopro footage to see if I have a still where you can see air under all your tyres - we certainly saw and commented on it from my car!

Cracking run out, and just as good a gathering in the evenings, as always!
Great to meet some new faces, and regroup with the other seasoned vets!

Only one question tho.. what date's next years and where do I send the deposit? :driving:

Honnister Pass - we all had plenty of time to take photos there as we crawled up the narrow road and avoided the traffic coming the other way! Very well known for being picturesque - and busy!

how does this happen, its seems such a simple thing to me, don't loose sight of the car behind you, do most people worry about keeping up with the car in front :headbang:

Craig.

I know you suffered some damage to your little rod, but I may be able to come to your rescue as I've found the 'Sport Aerial Rod' (65 20 2 296 761) that I bought to replace my whip.

It's been fitted for a week to try it and it didn't pick up the stations I needed (similar issue to the Mangowalk version I assume), so I've got it sitting here for you.

You can either have it if/when we meet up for the Skye trip (although I can't find any info on it on here), or you can PM me and I'll post it off to you.

Tony

In this case it's down to the fact that the group was splitting after the traffic lights/bridge anyway, and the lights on the bridge seemed to be only letting about 3 cars through at a time.

So by the time you'd got through the traffic lights & over the bridge, there may have been 12 other cars in between that had come from 3 other directions.

even so, if you don't turn laet or right off a road before waiting for a car to catch up then nobody should get lost :?

In the bar at Crooklands with Bladeowner and Grumpybri as the 3 of us along with Mr & Mrs Rjbaz are staying an extra night.
We're just on our first pint, its freezing out and not relishing another night in the tent with my summer sleeping bag. :(
I can assure you there'll be no Brokeback Mountain action however cold it gets. :)
A big thank you again to Craig and John for putting on a great weekend again especially the drive today. Fantastic work on the raffle again Craig and great to see everyone dug deep.
Nice to meet friends old and new and hope to see you all again next year.

I should be home early afternoon tomorrow and will get some pics up then .

Its always going to be tricky keeping that many cars together with that much other traffic on the roads.

There are plenty of stops to allow catch ups and instructions too.

Have to say it made me chuckle considering tony and I had gone horribly wrong, considered turning round, given up and decided to continue, then next thing I know there were Zeds in the rear view mirror - seemed that wherever you were in the Lakes/Dales this weekend you were never far from a Z4 - and that's a great place to be :driving:

Back at Newcastle - tired but totally relaxed and fulfilled, after a terrific weekend; today's driving experience was absolutely brilliant - the route and traffic gods were with us. I'll post photos and further comments tomorrow.

528 miles, 23.5mpg (includes a spirited run across Hartside on the way there but surprised the run back up the M6 and across on the A69 (I was 'driven out' and took the easy route home) didn't improve the figure. . . )

We've only attended three Nationals but Steph and I both thought this one was outstanding - a massive thank you once again to John and Craig

More to come. . . . .

:driving:
