2014 Halfords Challenge

Also thanks jamjia
No worries DanStarr. Good to find these little tidbits of info which can really help everyday motoring.

As for this being a joke, well I can understand why some find Halfords a bit of a joke. In reality I go there only for washer fluid and the occasional cleaning products. But since this is the internet, where people can share useful info, might as well ask the question and see if there's nuggets of useful tips around.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry for being a little more considerate to everyone else who use this forum. Let me have a big laugh, haha! You're a real funny guy!

That my padawan is sarcasm.

Perhaps lighten up a little - I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this was a humorous thread when you posted a link to a tube of metal polish for £5.99 :)
I actually got the metal polish idea from another thread where someone was resorting a crashed Z4. Which was interesting for me because I'd been wanting to resort my tail pipe tips for a while but was unsure what to use.

Hence this thread which is all for useful tips on how to improve within a certain budget. We have so many threads on shocks, coil overs, CF intakes etc that most of the time are just not relevant to the likes of me.

I figured there might be others who are in a similar boat and just wanted some useful knowledge on everyday motoring which is specific to their Z4.

But I do see how MANY on this forum could interpret that as a joke.

To be fair, Halfords do often have decent promotions on car-cleaning products. Normally it's 3 for 2, you could get three very decent products for £50, which would undoubtedly improve the appearance of your car.

Maybe performance too, everyone knows clean cars go faster, right?

Spark plugs - if yours are shot then they sell Bosch replacements, not listed on website.

Castrol Edge FST 10w-60 - cars need oil to perform correctly

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_241293_langId_-1_categoryId_165581

Will your zed not start... Restore lost performance with a battery charger

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_894777_langId_-1_categoryId_255205

Socket set - to undertake basic maintenance (like changing those TPS sensors!)

Fuel system treatment - snake oil that has a nice placebo effect ;)

Lubricants/greases - keeps moving things moving, gt85 and silicon spray can be handy.

Screenwash

All manner of cleaning products, too many to list.

Air freshener :)

the 3 for 2 is always frustrating, I have ocd regarding equalising the price of the 3 items, and can spend quite some time trying to find 3 things the same price that I actually need!

I don't mind Halfords, but I have to confess to "window shopping" there and then buying most things off Amazon afterwards. In a physical store you can smell all the waxes, for example. :?

Also thought this was a joke thread, jamjia, sorry! Maybe you should work for Halfords though, as it appears to be holding up ok - against the odds.

Didn't know the link to the engine oil! Thank you Adam D!

I buy there screen wash - but we have a much better Indie locally and polished bliss is actually closer than my local Halfords.

Got to be honest I thought this was a challenge to find the most out there thing they sell - Sorry OP

Name as many items (under £50) from Halfords that either improves your Z4M based on the below categories.

1. Performance
2. Apperance
3. Condition
4. Convenience

Please post a link to the item and an explanation to why it meets the criteria above.

To kick things off I'm posting this:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_176475_langId_-1_categoryId_165527

Which will help to shine up the chrome look of the exhaust tips.

For both 2. and 3. Autoglym Roof Cleaner and Protector. Great for keeping mildew at bay in the nooks and crannies of the roof / keeping a black roof looking black.
Link: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_185456_langId_-1_categoryId_255236

And I agree with OP on the Autosol for shining the chrome exhaust tips
