2014 e89 crankshaft sensor error

Sorry for putting this in the wrong place earlier

I'm getting a crankshaft sensor error when the engine heats up (10-15 mins) and it's ok once it cools down. Symptoms engine management warning when deiving then engine cranks 10s before restart. Cooled down again starts fine.

I've found the part online and it's a sensor with a wire attached and a remote plug.

I can see what I thintis the remote plug just above the starter, the wire runs down behind the starter and seems to go through into the bell housing !!

I can't find anything relating to this at all. Every video I see shows the sensor just behind the starter and some say it's possible to remove it without removing the starter but all these have a normal sensor where the cable plugs direction into it.

Any ideas anyone ?

I hope it is ok if I post a link to the sensor here if not I apologize

For anyone interested

It was a faulty sensor and according to bmw it's not uncommon

Forget removing the intake manifold it can be done by moving the starter motor which is easily removed
