Hi folks,

I have had a brilliant 3 years of ownership of my 35is, but now I’m looking to sell as i’ve got a bad back so need something more comfortable.

Details are as follows:

Located near York, UK
BMW Z4 35is DCT 2014 340bhp
Full service history since ownership - bought from BMW in 2020.
New battery 2022
79k miles (will increase slightly)
Mostly M1 Motorway miles
New adaptive suspension last year at £2k so no worries there
Decent front pads, new rears and healthy michelin PS4 tyres
Always made sure tracking and balancing has been done
Idrive system + standard bmw audio
Heated seats + electric memory seats
Adaptive full beam headlights
Steering-Tracked headlights
Regularly treated rubber seals so no leaks
Kept off road and covered often
Black grille & wingmirrors, but have the original parts to supply in the sale
Roof working perfectly
Sounds great
Mechanically great
Odd stone chip on the front end
Otherwise in great condition, well cared for.
Happy to put a new MOT on before sale, due a service shortly which i will do if it doesn’t sell in the meantime.
Feel free to ask Qs / more photos etc

Asking £17,000 on the basis that ive treated it well and its had new adaptive suspension recently
Thanks for looking!

Welcome and GLWTS.

You will need 3 posts to converse with any prospective buyer via Private Message, though.

Here's your problem, £18,750 with 1 owner, red leather and half the mileage. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207037417570?year-to=2014&sort=relevance&postcode=s122je&include-delivery-option=on&model=Z4&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&maximum-mileage=80000&year-from=2014&radius=1500&make=BMW&advertising-location=at_cars&aggregatedTrim=35is&page=1&percentVehiclePriceDeposit=true

No idrive, screw covers missing from the door handles, doesnt have the top hifi and the centre cover where the speaker would be is sitting funny.
No wind deflector and it doesnt look like it has PDC either.

And mine is higher spec and 4K cheaper

Nothing is selling it seems

Interesting indeed! May have to drop my price a tad then, but i guess no rush for the time being either.

These are some good points, perhaps i’ll have to knock some £ off on account of the mileage comparison, though.

Anyone got a loose idea of a fair price for mine? Not into ripping anyone off, just want to see it go to a good home and have enough moolah left to get myself a nice wagon haha

I think buyers have been given mileage phobia and people posting scare stories online, which means a lot of people are expecting as new at 10 years old, with very low miles. For every person that's had an issue hundreds haven't, but you never read about them.

We have great cars in the 35iS, we know because we have owned them, people are missing out on some bargains and great cars.
Rant over ....

Glass's have it at a retail value of £17,000 and a Trade value of £14,000 - confused provide an insurance valuation of £15,500

I agree that you need a price revision to reflect the points already made, mainly mileage. If insurance valuation is £15k that’ll not be too far away, a bit light IMO but not too far away, with the exception of some of the things I’ve listed below. If you’ve had any of the biggish spends addressed, it’ll reflect in what you can ask. If nothing done I’d be asking £16k ish and if some bigger things like injectors/HPFP that’d be up to £17k ish

It may also be worth giving a few more details that buyer on here may specify want, like age/depth/brand of tyres. Stereo version as the iDrive extra doesn’t give any indication of the sound system. Any other specific extras. I’d also recommend details of SH and any other works done. The adaptive suspension being done is a plus for a prospective buyer but there are some other high ticket items that are associated with this model and may be worth flagging these up if been done.

Bottom line is this is all IMO, it’s your car and you can ask, and except, whatever you feel is reasonable but at the end of the day, you’re looking to maximise your asset for your next purchase.

GLWTS, they’re great cars and this looks nice

You could be right there, i guess they’re seeing many prices rise and thinking they should be getting near new examples for the higher prices.

35iSs are definitely something of a future classic of sorts and ultimately great cars, like you say.

You are a person who knows their Cars, nice points.
I shall update my listing accordingly given some of the things you’ve listed are probably ‘coming up’ rather than ‘done’ that makes sense.

Thankfully ive always used michelin PS4s and theyve got good tread left. And interestingly the larger service with plugs etc is due in april, but ive booked it this month to shimmy things along, though could be willing to negate that if a buyer was willing. Who knows!

Cheers v much!

Yep, all true.

That looks like a really nice car with a good spec. I sold my 3.5is a couple of years ago for just under £16000 with 47000 miles on the clock. It didn’t have Idrive but was immaculate and did have a full service history and a transferable BMW warranty. Since then prices have risen for the best 3.5is cars so I don’t think you are too far away with you asking price. Considering the mileage, it is perhaps a bit on the high side. However, once Spring arrives I am sure there will be more interest in your car. Maybe some new photographs with the paintwork dry and shining would help too. You need to make the car as attractive as possible to potential buyers. Why should they come and look at your car rather than what else is available? GLWTS.
