2012 Z4 top operation

28 years of owning VWs I am new to BMW so if I ask a dumb question please bear with me. I have seen YouTube videos depicting a couple of options I am not sure that I have.
-Open and close the top with the key fob
-Open and close the top while moving

Mine is a 2012 Z4 sDrive35i with M Sport Canyon Brown Package
 
Those things can be coded.

My MY2015 came stock with the ability to close when moving but I don't think my FOB operates the roof.

I am also confused about the option to lift the open roof just a bit to load the trunk. Mine doesn't seem to have it.
 
Ok your key can open the roof but can only close the roof with the key if you have comfort access ie keyless go. The system can't be coded but you can install a smart top module to carry out a range of functions with the key
 
Hi, welcome to the forum.

You should be able to open the roof from your key fob but won't be able to close it. What you need is a Smart Top from Mods4cars which will allow you to open and close form the key fob and with one touch of the internal control.

I recently purchased a 2012 Z4 and have just fitted this device, its a piece of cake and the instructions are easy to follow.

Great addition to the car.
 
Thanks for all the feedback. I played with it a bit tonight, I found that I am able to close the roof from the outside with the key fob by holding the locked button however holding the unlock button down does not open the windows or roof. I tried this with both keys, I guess I will have to have the dealer look at that when I go for my oil change unless someone has another idea.
