My neighbours have a new SLK 200, and I have to say parked next to the Zed (E89) its very angular in shape, as opposed to having lots of smooth curves like the Zed. I'm not totally won over by it.

I agree with Z4 Beemer -not sure about the design. Looking at that side profile there is way too much "clutter". It's a very busy design. Not a fan.

Having said all that though - at least it's got a bit more of a unisex appeal than the Mk1 and II had. Oh and the new engine looks like it will be fantastic - think AMG have put one over on the M Division with that..

Okay before you all criticise me, just remember that I drive 500 miles a week..... but I might be tempted with the 250 cdi version... that's if I can get to terms with the angular shape.

However waiting with bated breath for the new baby jaguar convertible with a V6 :)

I saw this Merc in the flesh a month ago in Milan and it's def. an attempt to make it more angular and aggressive.

Will be interesting to see what the new Jag C-X16 ends up looking like. Seems like the Z4 coupe to me

Mmmm I really like it, although this white one is a bit pimped with AMG stuff, think it's a launch edition of some sort. The std ones will come with normal wheels and interior etc.

It's the front that I really don't like, it just looks wrong around the lights, however the interior with the red seats looks gorgeous

Gets a pretty crap write up in Autocar. £57k before options as well, it's no wonder the last one depreciated like buggery. Looks like this one will go the same way.

SLKs always seem to look overly cluttered and busy, this one included. It might be a decent drive, but there's just way too much going on visually, inside and out. One of the things about the Z4 that appeals to me is its relative simplicity. A place for everything, everything in its place, and nothing extraneous to get in the way. That, I suppose, also makes it a great car for modding for the guys who are into that sort of thing (I'm not really ... I'm more into the driving bit).

The SLK is flashy, but the Z4 focuses on the driving experience. :driving:

This is exactly why I prefer the new SLK over the E89..
